Banterra Center is an 8,284-seat multi-purpose arena, on the campus of Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, Illinois, United States. Construction on the arena began in the spring of 1962 and took nearly two years to complete. It was completed in 1964 and is the home of the SIU Salukis basketball team.
Buccaneer Field House is an 881-seat multi-purpose arena in North Charleston, South Carolina. Called by many the Buc Dome, it is home to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers basketball teams. It is the second smallest arena in Division I basketball after the G. B. Hodge Center, and is one of two arenas used by the Buccaneers.
Hanner Fieldhouse is a 4,325-seat multi-purpose arena in Statesboro in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was built in 1969 and is home to the Georgia Southern University men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. It hosted the 1985 and 1992 Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball tournaments.
F. G. Clark Activity Center is a 7,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that opened in 1975. It is home to two Southern University basketball teams, the Southern Jaguars and Southern Lady Jaguars. The arena also holds concerts and other events.
Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) is a junior college in Shreveport, Louisiana. It is part of the historically black Southern University System. SUSLA, pushed to fruition by the administration of Governor John J. McKeithen, opened for instruction on September 19, 1967. At the same time a second junior college, Louisiana State University at Shreveport, also opened. LSUS later became began offering bachelor's degrees but SUSLA remains a junior college. The university is a member-school of Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

In 2018, the Paladins entered the College Basketball AP Poll for the first time in program history, coming in at number 23 on December 10. Furman made an appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament in 2023 after having last appeared in 1980, the 43-year absence being the 15th longest drought in NCAA Division I Tournament history. During that tournament Furman would upset 4 seeded Virginia in the first round.

The school's team currently competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and are led by head coach Otis Hughley Jr. Prior to the Bulldogs' move to NCAA Division I in 1998, the team was a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and a consistent presence in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Notable players include Desmond Cambridge, Mickell Gladness, Obie Trotter, Frank Sillmon, Willie Hayes, and Nigel Moore. The Bulldogs were coached by L. Vann Pettaway from 1986 to 2010. During his tenure, Pettaway amassed a 440–264 record with the a school-best 28–3 in 1992–93 and 1995–96. From 1992 to 1997, the Bulldogs went 136–20.

The Screaming Eagles currently compete in the Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Due to the NCAA's policy on reclassifying programs, the Screaming Eagles will not be eligible to compete in the NCAA tournament or the NIT until the 2026–27 season.
