Sporti Shqiptar (English: Albanian Sport) was a newspaper published in Albania.

History

Sporti Shqiptar was established on 28 November 1935 by Luigj Shala and Anton Mazreku and was considered at the time the first sports publication in the region. The paper survived following the collapse of the communist regime in Albania. [2]

Its headquarters were in Tirana, Albania. The newspaper mainly published articles about events in the Albanian Superliga and the Albanian Cup and other European leagues. [3]

Fatmir Efica is an Albanian sports journalist and radio commentator. He is the long time play-by-play radio announcer of Besa Kavajë. Efica has also covered Albania National Football Team matches for Radio Tirana. In 2001 he was awarded the prestigious "Anton Mazreku Prize" from the National Association of Journalists. Efica has written columns for the sports dailies Sporti Shqiptar, Sportekspres and is the author of several books, most notably "Besa e Kavajës, një histori", which covers the history of the club from 1925-1995.

Qemal Omari was a Turkish football player, manager and referee of Albanian heritage.

Grent Refik Halili is an Albanian footballer who currently plays as a centre forward for Tirana in the Albanian Superliga and the Albania national under-21 football team. He is the son of KF Tirana's owner and president Refik Halili.
