Besa was a newspaper published in Albania. The publisher and founder was Abdurraman Dibra (1885-1961), an Albanian politician. In addition to Dibra, Musa Juka and Abdurrahman Krosi were also the editors of the paper. [1]

The publication of Besa ended during communist era when the Abdurrahman Dibra also was imprisoned.

Vehbi Dibra

Haxhi Vehbi Dibra (Agolli) mostly known as Vehbi Dibra was an Albanian mufti, theologian, politician and a delegate of Dibër at the Albanian Declaration of Independence. He was elected as chairman of the Elderly Assembly, the precursor to what is today the Parliament of Albania and the first Grand Mufti of the Muslim Community of Albania from 1920 to 1929. Vehbi Dibra will also be remembered as the main organizer of the Congress of Dibra.

Congress of Manastir

The Congress of Manastir was an academic conference held in the city of Manastir from November 14 to 22, 1908, with the goal of standardizing the Albanian alphabet. November 22 is now a commemorative day in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, as well as among the Albanian diaspora, known as Alphabet Day. Prior to the Congress, the Albanian language was represented by a combination of six or more distinct alphabets, plus a number of sub-variants.

Abdurrahman Dibra (1885-1961) was an Albanian politician. He was born in Debar in modern-day North Macedonia. He served under various ministries of the Albanian government including Minister of Finance. In the early 1910s as an Ottoman governor of the area of Neveska he instigated the assassination of the guerrilla leader Spiro Bellkameni.

Besa is an Albanian cultural precept, usually translated as "faith" or "oath", that means "to keep the promise" and "word of honor". The concept is synonymous, and, according to Hofmann, Treimer and Schmidt, etymologically related, to the Classical Latin word fides, which in Late Ancient and Medieval Latin took on the Christian meaning of "faith, (religious) belief" today extant in Romance languages, but which originally had an ethical/juridical scope. The Albanian adjective besnik, derived from besa, means "faithful", "trustworthy", i.e. one who keeps his word. Besnik for men and Besa for women continue to be very popular names among Albanians.

Committee for the National Defence of Kosovo

The Committee for the National Defence of Kosovo was an Albanian organization illegally founded in Shkodër at the beginning of November 1918. It was mainly consisted of the political exiles from Kosovo and was led by Hoxha Kadri from Pristina. It existed in looser form since May 1915.

Sanjak of Dibra

Zef Çoba

Zef Çoba is a musical conductor. He completed his studies of choral conducting at the Art Academy in Tirana in 1974. After graduating he was appointed Music Director of Culture Centre in Peshkopi and then in Shkoder. He studied folklore, particularly of the regions where he worked, and in taught himself composition. In 1989 began working as a professional composer. In 1991 began to work at Radio Shkodra as a music redactor/editor, and after that, as a journalist and chief editor.

Fuad bey Dibra (1886–1944) was an Albanian politician and nationalist who represented Albania at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. He was a member of the High Regency Council.

The Albanian tribes form a historical mode of social organization (farefisní) in Albania and the southwestern Balkans characterized by a common culture, often common patrilineal kinship ties tracing back to one progenitor and shared social ties. Ridvan Dibra is an Albanian writer. He was born in Shkodër, Albania, where he graduated from university in Albanian Language and Literature and from 1994 started teaching the very same subject there. An innovative writer, Dibra is a leading figure of contemporary Albanian Literature. He has been rewarded with several national and international prizes, including the Rexhai Surroi Prize for best novel of the year in Albanian speaking territories, for his 2012 novel, "Legjenda e vetmisë" . He has been called as one of the five greatest living Albanian writers.
