As of 2012,he was the president of NGO Emendena Eimwi,"recently established" to raise public awareness of corruption and bribery issues in the country,and to lobby the government for more effective measures against these ills. [1] With that aim,he entered politics,and was elected Member of Parliament for Meneng in the June 2013 general election. A fellow member of Emendena Eimwi,Doneke Kepae,also stood for Parliament,but was not elected. [2] Jeremiah was defeated for re-election in the 2016 election. [3] As there are no political parties in Nauru,Jeremiah sat as an independent.

Parliamentary elections were held in Nauru on 8 June 2013. After Parliament was dissolved on 1 March,the elections were set for 6 April. However,a Supreme Court ruling annulled the dissolution and cancelled the elections. Parliament was dissolved again on 23 May,approximately one month before the normal end of its mandate,and elections were set for 22 June 2013,however President Sprent Dabwido declared a state of emergency and brought the election forward to 8 June.
