Davanagere is a city in the centre of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is the seventh largest city in the state, and the administrative headquarters of eponymous Davangere district. Shivakumara Swami was an Indian humanitarian, spiritual leader, educator and supercentenarian. He was a Lingayatism religious figure. Swami joined the Siddaganga Matha in 1930 Karnataka and became head seer in 1941. He also founded the Sri Siddaganga Education Society. Described as the most esteemed adherent of Lingayatism (Veerashaivism), he was referred to as Nadedaaduva Devaru in the state. In 2015, Swami was awarded by the Government of India the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award.

Nayakas of Chitradurga ruled parts of eastern Karnataka during the post-Vijayanagara period. During the rule of Hoysala Empire and Vijayanagara Empire, they served as a feudatory chiefdom. Later, after the fall of the Vijayanagara empire, they ruled at times as an independent chiefdom and at other times as a vassal of the Mysore Kingdom, Mughal Empire and Maratha Empire. Finally, their territories merged into the province of Mysore under the British.

Davangere benne dose or Butter Dose is a type of dosa which traces its origin to the city of Davanagere in Karnataka, India. The term "benne dose" in the English language simply corresponds to butter dose. It is prepared by the addition of a generous amount of butter while preparing the normal dosa, and accompanied by coconut chutney. Its batter is very different comprising a mixture of rice, dal, puffed rice, etc., and is prepared on a wood-fired pan. It is similar to masala dosa or set dosa but smaller in size, made out of rice batter and much more butter. It is served with liberal helpings of butter sprinkled on it.

Siddaganga Intercity Express, formerly Intercity Excpress is a daily express train that runs between Dharwad and Bengaluru in Karnataka, India and it replaced Bangalore City - Hubli (Hubballi) Shatabdi Express. and until 2009, this train ran from Hubballi to Bengaluru. It was extended to Dharwad on 8 December 2009. It takes 8 hours 50 minutes to cover 490 kilometres (300 mi). It has 17 stops and 65 intermediate Stations. It is numbered as 12725/12726. The train belongs to Mysuru Division of South Western Railway.

Padmakar Ramachandra Dubhashi was an Indian civil servant, administrator, author, social scientist and academician, known for his administrative and academic abilities.
