Hemanta Mukhopadhyay, known professionally as Hemanta Mukherjee and Hemant Kumar was a legendary Indian music director and playback singer who primarily sang in Bengali and Hindi, as well as other Indian languages like Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Assamese, Tamil, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Konkani, Sanskrit and Urdu. He was an artist of Bengali and Hindi film music, Rabindra Sangeet, and many other genres. He was the recipient of two National Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and was popularly known as the "voice of God".
Salil Chowdhury was an Indian music director, songwriter, lyricist, writer and poet who predominantly composed for Bengali, Hindi and Malayalam films. He composed music for films in 13 languages. This includes over 75 Hindi films, 41 Bengali films, 27 Malayalam films, and a few Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Odia and Assamese films. His musical ability was widely recognised and acknowledged in the Indian film industry. He was an accomplished composer and arranger who was proficient in several musical instruments, including flute, the piano, and the esraj. He was also widely acclaimed and admired for his inspirational and original poetry in Bengali.
Ogo Bodhu Shundori is a 1981 Bengali-language comedy film co-written and directed by Salil Dutta. It is a Bengali reworking of the story of Pygmalion, heavily drawing upon the British musical My Fair Lady. Produced by R. D. Bansal, the film stars Uttam Kumar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Ranjit Mallick, Sumitra Mukherjee, Santosh Dutta and Bikash Roy in lead roles. It one of the last films of the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who died during production. A lookalike, Prabir Kumar, was brought in to stand in for Kumar for the final sections of the film and for the song "O Daddy, O Mummy".
Sathi (transl. Partner) is a 2002 Indian Bengali-language musical romantic drama film co-written and directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. It stars Jeet, making his debut, Priyanka Upendra and Ranjit Mallick in lead roles. The soundtrack and background score was composed by S.P Venkatesh, while V. Prabhakar handled the cinematography and editing was finished by Swapan Guha. The film follows the tragic journey of Bijoy Ray, a struggling singer, who comes to Kolkata to find his love Sonali, being released from jail after 5 years due to false accuses of carrying firearms.The film is an official remake of the Tamil film Thulladha Manamum Thullum.
Yuddho is a 2005 Indian Bengali language vigilante action thriller film written and directed by Rabi Kinnagi. Produced by Shrikant Mohta under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, it stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jeet, two biggest superstars of Bengal for the first time together, along with Debashree Roy, Koel Mallick, Rajatava Dutta, Bharat Kaul, Kaushik Banerjee and Sumit Ganguly. The story revolves around a police officer who is falsely accused of murdering his wife and imprisoned as he has been investigating a rape case that involves the younger brother of a powerful MLA. The officer then manages to evade the prison and get his revenge.

Antony Firingee is a 1967 Indian biographical musical drama film directed by Sunil Bannerjee, starring Uttam Kumar and Tanuja on lead. It is a biopic based on the life of Anthony Firingee, a Bengali language folk poet of Portuguese origin. Antony Firingee was a Portuguese-Indian who became a famous Bengali poet musician and fell in love with Nirupoma. She agreed to marry him after revealing her tragic history. But his fame was not enough to overcome their ostracisation and tragedy struck again.

Saheb Bibi Golam is a 1956 Bengali film directed by Kartik Chatterjee. It is based on a Bengali novelist Bimal Mitra's 1953 novel of the same name. The film explores the tragic fall of feudalism in Bengal during the British Raj. The title of the movie and the story is a reference to the plot simultaneously exploring a platonic relationship between a beautiful, forlorn wife of an aristocrat and a career-driven clerk. Mithu Mukherjee is a former Indian actress who appeared in Hindi as well as Bengali cinema. She made her debut in a 1971 Bengali film Shesh Parba directed by Chitta Bose. She was catapulted to stardom after she had donned the role of Marjina in Dinen Gupta's Marjina Abdulla (1973) and sustained it with further roles in Bengali films such as Nishi Kanya (1973), Mouchak (1974), Swayamsiddha (1975), Hotel Snow Fox (1976), Bhagyachakra (1980) and Sandhi (1980). She made her Bollywood debut with Dulal Guha's Khaan Dost (1976). After her Dujane (1984) tanked at the box office, she took a sabbatical of seven years and returned to silver screen with Chandra Barot's hugely successful commercial drama Ashrita (1990).

The film stars Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Ranjit Mullick, Mithu Mukherjee, Sulata Choudhury, Ratna Ghoshal, and Nripati Chattopadhyay in lead roles. Nachiketa Ghosh scored the music in the film. The film was released on 10 January 1974. The film is one of the best and most popular comedy film ever. The film became blockbuster hit at the box office.
Sabyasachi is a 1977 Bengali-language period political action thriller film co-written and directed by Pijush Basu. Based on the novel Pather Dabi written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the film is produced by Asim Sarkar under the banner of Usha Films. It stars Uttam Kumar in the titular role, alongside Supriya Devi, Bikash Roy, Anil Chatterjee, Kiran Lahiri, Tarun Kumar and Jayashree Kabir in lead roles. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Nidan Bandhu Banerjee and particulary Uttam Kumar himself, marking his second film as a composer after Kal Tumi Aleya (1966).
