Ugljan Croatian island

Ugljan (pronounced [ûɡʎan]; is a Croatian island and the first in the Zadar Archipelago. It is located northwest of the island of Pašman and southeast of the islands of Rivanj and Sestrunj. Separated from the mainland by the Zadar Channel, it is connected with the island of Pašman by the Ždrelac Bridge spanning over the Ždrelac Strait. Area 50.21 km2, population 6,049, length 22 km, width up to 3.8 km.

Rivanj is an Adriatic Sea island in the Zadar Archipelago, between the islands of Sestrunj and Ugljan, with an area of 4.4 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi) ; population 31 (2011); highest peak Lukocina. The only village is Rivanj, located in the interior of the island; below it, on the south-western coast, is a small harbour with a hamlet. The island is largely covered with underbrush and thicket. Rivanj has a daily ferry and ship line with Zadar. The present village was allegedly founded by the inhabitants of the island of Ugljan. Rivanj is frequented by boaters.

Califfi Castle is a 17th-century castle on the Croatian island of Ugljan (Dalmatia), located in the town of the same name. The castle was built by the Califfi family in the 17th century. The Bercich family from Zara - Zadar acted as stewards of the castle, and the castle eventually took on their name. More recently the castle has been restored and carries the name Dvor Krešimir Ćosić after the former Croatian basketball star.

The island is partially covered with maquis shrubland and low forests. Remains of an Illyrian fort are situated on the island. The island's main industries are agriculture and fishing.

St. Michaels Fortress, Šibenik

St. Michael's Fortress is a medieval fort in Šibenik, Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia, situated on a steep hill above the old historic center of the city. Its strategically favorable and dominant position made it the central part of Šibenik fortification system. The location was more or less continuously occupied since the Iron Age, as is witnessed by numerous archaeological findings from the era. The city of Šibenik was first mentioned on 25 December 1066 in a charter signed by King Peter Krešimir IV and verified by his courtiers. It is widely considered that the signing took place at St. Michael's Fortress.
