St Mary's Church is a church in Ashby Magna, Leicestershire. It is a Grade II* listed building.
The church was built by Robert Esseby in c1220. [2] The oldest parts of the church are the arcade and north aisle dating from the 13th century. [3]
The church altogether is made up of a nave, vestry, 14th century tower, north aisle and chancel. [4] In 1861 the gallery and pews were removed, the font added, and the south windows and nave were restored. [3] [5] [4]
The chancel was restored in 1907 and the floor was raised. [5] Some of the tiles have the City of Cardiff motif on them. The chancel also has an ambry recess on the north wall and a piscina. [3] [4]
Willoughby Waterleys is a small village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. It is situated near the A426 Leicester–to–Lutterworth road. Nearby villages are Ashby Magna, Peatling Magna and Countesthorpe. Main Street is the basis of the village running north to south, there have been some new developments such as bungalows and large detached houses however many farms still remain in the parish.
St Helen's Church is the Anglican parish church of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, in the deanery of North West Leicestershire and the Diocese of Leicester. There was a church in the town in the 11th century, but the core of the present building mainly dates from work started in 1474, when the church was rebuilt by William Hastings at the same time that he converted his neighbouring manor house into a castle. The church was refurbished in about 1670 to create more space, but the large and increasing size of the congregation led to further work in 1829, and a major rebuild in 1878–80, including the widening of the nave by the addition of two outer aisles.
