Stack Is the New Black is the debut studio album by Australian pop punk band Short Stack, released through Sunday Morning Records on 14 August 2009. It peaked at number 1 on the ARIA Charts and was certified gold in Australia in 2011. [1]
The album's track listing was announced on 12 June 2009 through the band's website. The same day the album was also made available for pre-order, with all pre-orders before 17 July receiving a personal phone call from the band, and their name printed in the album's booklet. [2] JB Hi-Fi online also offered a pre-order of a signed album with a free shirt, guitar picks, poster and stickers.
Both songs "The Back of My Head" and "Thick as Thieves" were both written in the band's early years. They were remade for the album, "Thick as Thieves" was previously named "We Breakdance, Not Hearts". It sounded very similar to "Thick as Thieves". Originally, "The Back of My Head" had Andy Clemmensen and Shaun Diviney singing in the chorus and just Andy singing the verses, but this was changed so that Andy sung the verses and Shaun sung the choruses. (Normally, Andy is the backing vocalist and Shaun in the lead vocalist, except on this song.)

INXS were an Australian rock band, formed as The Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales. The band's founding members were bassist Garry Gary Beers, main composer and keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead singer and main lyricist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. For 20 years, INXS was fronted by Hutchence, whose magnetic stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their new wave/pop style, the band later developed a harder pub rock style that included funk and dance elements.
"Comfortably Numb" is a song on Pink Floyd's eleventh album, The Wall (1979). It was released as a single in 1980, with "Hey You" as the B-side. The music was composed by guitarist David Gilmour, and the lyrics were written by bassist Roger Waters.
Parkway Drive are an Australian metalcore band from Byron Bay, New South Wales, formed in 2003. As of 2018, Parkway Drive have released six studio albums, one EP, two DVDs, a split album and one book, titled Ten Years of Parkway Drive. "Paradise City" is a song by the American rock band Guns N' Roses, featured on their debut album, Appetite for Destruction (1987). Released as a single in January 1989, it is the only song on the album to feature a synthesizer. The song peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100—becoming the band's third single to reach the top 10—and number six on the UK Singles Chart. Listen Like Thieves is the fifth studio album by the Australian rock band INXS. It was released on 14 October 1985. It spent two weeks at number one on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart. Considered an international breakthrough album for the band, it peaked at No. 11 on the United States Billboard 200, No. 24 on the Canadian RPM 100 Albums and top 50 in the United Kingdom.
"My Band" is a song by American hip hop group D12. It was released in March 2004 as the first single from their second album D12 World. The song is a parody of the false concept that Eminem is the lead singer of the "band" D12. The single became one of the group's most successful, reaching number two in the United Kingdom, number six in the United States, and number one in Australia, New Zealand, and Norway. "My Band" was the first song to top the revamped singles chart introduced in New Zealand in April 2004. Later in the year, the song served as the opening song to the 2004 compilation album Now That's What I Call Music! 16.
"I Want It All" is a song by British rock band Queen, featured on their 1989 studio album The Miracle. Written by guitarist and backing vocalist Brian May and produced by David Richards, it was released as the first single from the album on 2 May 1989. "I Want It All" reached number three on the singles charts of the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland and New Zealand, as well as on the US Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. Elsewhere, it peaked at number two in the Netherlands and charted within the top 10 in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Norway and Switzerland. With its message about fighting for one's own goals it became an anti-apartheid protest song in South Africa.
"I'm Like a Bird" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado. It was written by Furtado and produced by Gerald Eaton and Brian West for her debut studio album, Whoa, Nelly! (2000). Released as the album's first single, it became one of the most successful singles of 2001, peaking at number one in Portugal, number two in Australia and New Zealand, number five in the United Kingdom, and number nine in the United States.
"When the War Is Over" is a power ballad of Australian band Cold Chisel from their 1982 album Circus Animals. The song was written by drummer Steve Prestwich and issued as the third single from the album, peaking at number 25 on the national singles chart, and also resurfaced in August 2011 due to download sales.
"Cherish" is a song by American R&B band Kool & the Gang, released in 1985. It was the third single released from the band's sixteenth studio album, Emergency. Short Stack are an Australian punk rock band. The band consists of members Shaun Diviney, Andy Clemmensen and Bradie Webb (drums). Shannon Hotchkins was also a member of Short Stack before any song was performed or recorded.
"Shimmy a Go Go" is song by Australian pop punk band, Short Stack, released September 2008 as their debut and lead single from their debut studio album, Stack Is the New Black. "Shimmy a Go Go" peaked at #31 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Shaun Diviney stated in a radio interview that he wrote the song during his final year in high school and it is about partying and having a good time.

The Story of Short Stack is a 2011 documentary which documents the journeys of Australian pop punk band Short Stack. It was directed, produced and edited by band member Andy Clemmensen. It starred many people, notably the band itself. The film was premiered on 27 October 2011 and officially released on 4 November 2011.
Trevor David Steel is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is a mainstay member of the alternative rock band, The Escape Club, which formed in 1983, disbanded in 1992 and reformed in 2009. In 1988, with other members of The Escape Club, he co-wrote their number-one Billboard Hot 100 hit "Wild, Wild West". Steel has also worked as a record producer and owns a recording label. In 2004 he relocated to Australia and appeared as a judge on TV talent search series, Popstars Live. In 2006 Steel founded a record Label, Sunday Morning Records, with Chris Johns in Sydney, they co-managed then pop punk group Short Stack from 2007 to 2011. Steel co-produced Short Stack's first two albums, with their singer-songwriter, Shaun Diviney.
