Wedge Antilles is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is a supporting character portrayed by Denis Lawson in the original Star Wars trilogy. He is also featured in the Star Wars expanded universe, most notably as the lead character in most of the X-Wing novels. Wedge has also appeared in the sequel trilogy film The Rise of Skywalker (2019), with Lawson reprising his role, and the 2014 animated series Star Wars Rebels, voiced by Nathan Kress.
Mara Jade is a fictional female character within the Star Wars franchise. She appears in the non-canon Legends series as the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of Ben Skywalker. She has been voiced by Heidi Shannon, Edie Mirman and Kath Soucie in various Star Wars video games.
Grand Admiral Thrawn, native name Mitth'raw'nuruodo, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in the 1991 Timothy Zahn novel Heir to the Empire, he is an Imperial military commander who has taken control of the Galactic Empire's remaining forces five years after the events of the 1983 film Return of the Jedi. Thrawn faces off against classic Star Wars characters Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian in the Thrawn trilogy (1991–1993), but is ultimately defeated. He is seemingly resurrected in the Hand of Thrawn duology (1997–98), and his backstory is explored in various other novels, short stories, comics, and video games in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
Governor Wilhuff Tarkin is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, first portrayed by English actor Peter Cushing in the 1977 film Star Wars. He is commander of the Death Star, the Galactic Empire's dwarf planet-sized battle station. His philosophy of "ruling through fear of force", dubbed the Tarkin Doctrine, became central to Imperial policy and promoted him to become the first Grand Moff in the Galactic Empire. While he is first introduced as a superior officer of Darth Vader, the series also portrays his life prior to the first film, including having known Vader’s former Jedi self, Anakin Skywalker, and having been instrumental in the rise of the Empire. Tarkin has been called "one of the most formidable villains in Star Wars history."
In fiction, canon is the material accepted as officially part of the story in the fictional universe of that story. It is often contrasted with, or used as the basis for, works of fan fiction. The alternative terms mythology, timeline, universe and continuity are often used, with the first of these being used especially to refer to a richly detailed fictional canon requiring a large degree of suspension of disbelief, while the latter two typically refer to a single arc where all events are directly connected chronologically. Other times, the word can mean "to be acknowledged by the creator(s)".
The term expanded universe, sometimes called an extended universe, is generally used to denote the "extension" of a media franchise with other media, generally comics and original novels. This typically involves new stories for existing characters already developed within the franchise, but in some cases entirely new characters and complex mythology are developed. This is not necessarily the same as an adaptation, which is a retelling of the same story that may or may not adhere to accepted canon. Nearly every media franchise with a committed fan base has some form of expanded universe.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is an unfinished multimedia project developed by LucasArts along with Dark Horse Comics, Lego, Hasbro, and Del Rey Books. It consists of a video game released in September 2008, a second video game released in October 2010, two corresponding tie-in novels, action figures, a comic book, a reference book, a role-playing game supplement, and a book on the making of the game.
Captain Rex, later Commander Rex, designation number CT-7567, is a fictional character in the Star Wars science fiction universe created by George Lucas and a main character of the animated The Clone Wars 2008 film and the related television series of the same name. He is a clone trooper of the Grand Army of the Republic, cloned from bounty hunter Jango Fett, and serves the Galactic Republic under the command of Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano. Since his introduction in The Clone Wars, he has also appeared in the 2014 Star Wars Rebels television series and in comics, novels, and video games of the Star Wars Legends expanded universe. Like all clone troopers in The Clone Wars and Rebels, Rex is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.

Commonly explored media include books, comic books, and video games, though other forms such as audio dramas have also been produced.
Mandalorians are fictional people associated with the planet Mandalore in the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas. First conceptualized for The Empire Strikes Back as a group of white-armored "supercommandos", the idea developed into a single bounty hunter character known as Boba Fett. Although the term "Mandalorian" is never used in the films, the popularity of Boba Fett inspired an extensive number of works about Mandalorians in the greater Star Wars franchise. The Clone Wars television series establishes the Mandalorians as a human people from Mandalore and nearby worlds with a strong warrior tradition. Mandalorian warrior characters also appear in the Rebels animated television series and in the live action web television series The Mandalorian.
Star Wars Rebels is an American 3D animated science fiction television series produced by Lucasfilm Animation and set in the Star Wars galaxy five years before A New Hope. It takes place during an era when the Galactic Empire is hunting down the last of the Jedi while a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking form. The visual style of the series is inspired by the original Star Wars trilogy concept art by Ralph McQuarrie. The series features new characters, along with some from the original trilogy and from the previous CGI series, The Clone Wars.
Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales is a five-part Lego Star Wars television mini-series that premiered on Disney XD on July 6, 2015. It is an animated comedy adventure series depicting the stories and characters from the Star Wars saga.
Kanan Jarrus is a character in the Star Wars franchise, appearing as one of the main characters in the animated series Star Wars Rebels and related works. A Jedi Padawan who trained under Depa Billaba during the final years of the Galactic Republic, he was one of the few survivors of the Great Jedi Purge following the Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire, after his master sacrificed her life to save him. Now a fugitive, he changed his name in order to hide from the Empire and lived several years on his own, trying to survive, until meeting Hera Syndulla, who convinced him to join the Ghost crew.
Star Wars: Aftermath is a trilogy of Star Wars science fiction novels by American author Chuck Wendig. Set soon after the events of the 1983 film Return of the Jedi, the series explores the time period between that film and 2015's The Force Awakens. The trilogy began in 2015 with Aftermath, which was followed by the sequels Aftermath: Life Debt (2016) and Aftermath: Empire's End (2017). Aftermath is one of the projects in "Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens", a 2015 Star Wars publishing initiative to connect The Force Awakens with previous film installments.
Star Wars: Lords of the Sith is a Star Wars novel by Paul S. Kemp, published in April 2015. Set between the film Revenge of the Sith and the novel Star Wars: Tarkin, it features Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine facing off against revolutionaries. Lords of the Sith was one of the first four novels published in the franchise after Lucasfilm redefined Star Wars continuity in April 2014.
Star Wars: Thrawn is a Star Wars novel by Timothy Zahn, published on April 11, 2017 by Del Rey Books. It chronicles the origins of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a popular character originating from the Star Wars Legends line of works, which were declared non-canon to the franchise after Lucasfilm redefined Star Wars continuity in April 2014. The novel was announced in July 2016 alongside news that the character Thrawn would be reintroduced into the Star Wars franchise on the 3D CGI animated television series Star Wars Rebels.
