Static Impulse is the second solo album and fourth solo project by Dream Theater lead singer James LaBrie, released on September 28, 2010. [6] In late August 2010, LaBrie released two songs from the album titled "One More Time" and "I Need You". [7] [8]

Contents

This album features a more melodic death metal approach while still keeping the progressive elements from the previous albums. Aside from LaBrie's usual clean vocals, the album also features harsh vocals by drummer Peter Wildoer and backing vocals by keyboardist Matt Guillory, who also sang lead on the album's demos.

Dream Theater American progressive metal band

Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy while they attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. They subsequently dropped out of their studies to concentrate further on the band that would eventually become Dream Theater. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together until September 8, 2010, when Portnoy left the band and he was replaced several months later by Mike Mangini. James LaBrie has been the lead singer of Dream Theater since 1991, replacing Charlie Dominici who had left the band two years earlier. Dream Theater's first keyboardist, Kevin Moore, left the band after three albums and was replaced by Derek Sherinian in 1995 after a period of touring. After one album with Sherinian, the band replaced him with current keyboardist Jordan Rudess in 1999.

Kevin James LaBrie is a Canadian singer and songwriter, best known as the lead singer of American progressive metal band Dream Theater, which he has been fronting since 1991.

<i>Images and Words</i> 1992 studio album by Dream Theater

Images and Words is the second studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on July 7, 1992 through ATCO Records. It is the first Dream Theater release to feature James LaBrie on vocals. Since its release, the album has maintained its position as the band's most commercially successful studio album, and the song "Pull Me Under" has the distinction of being the only Top 10 hit the band has had to date. This particular song has also had more recent success as it has appeared in the 2008 video game Guitar Hero World Tour.

Shadow Gallery

Shadow Gallery is an American progressive metal band formed in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, United States, during the early 1980s, originally under the name Sorcerer. After changing their name to Shadow Gallery and recording a short 8-track demo, the band was signed to Magna Carta Records in 1991. Shadow Gallery's eponymous debut was released the following year in Japan and Europe. In mid-2005, Shadow Gallery released their fifth studio album, Room V, on the European-American independent label Inside Out.

All songs from it have been played live to date.

MullMuzzler

James LaBrie is the progressive metal solo side project by James LaBrie, the lead singer of Dream Theater, before recording under his own name in 2005. The record company would not allow LaBrie to use his own name, so he created the name of MullMuzzler. LaBrie coined the word MullMuzzler and defined it as: to gag or silence an individual's thought before it can be expressed in any manner. For the followup, he negotiated the right to use his name although still unable to simply credit it as his solo album.

Matt Guillory is an American musician. He mainly plays keyboards and tends to write progressive metal. He has often been compared to the Swedish keyboard player Jens Johansson, famous for his work in the power metal band Stratovarius. Matt Guillory has worked for Mike Varney, appearing on several mid 1990s records as session player. Guillory currently works with James LaBrie, best known as Dream Theater's vocalist, as a composer and keyboardist on the singer's solo releases. He was one of the founding members of the Bay Area based progressive metal band Dali's Dilemma. Guillory is a long time user of the Roland JD-800 synthesizer, which he plugs into a Line 6 Pod amp modelling/effects unit and a wah pedal to create a more guitar-like tone for his lead sound.

Karl Peter Wildoer is a Swedish drummer in the bands Darkane, Electrocution 250 & Grimmark. He has also drummed for the bands Armageddon, Majestic, Pestilence, Silver Seraph, Arch Enemy, Time Requiem, Soilwork, Gardens of Obscurity and Dawn of Oblivion amongst others. He has been tagged to perform sessions drums on Old Man's Child's latest album, Slaves of the World. He is the drummer/harsh vocalist of the James LaBrie solo records Static Impulse and Impermanent Resonance. He also joined the experimental metal trio Electrocution 250 along with Todd Duane and Lalle Larson, with which released the album Cartoon Music from Hell.

John Macaluso American drummer

John Macaluso is an American drummer who has played for Ark, TNT, and Yngwie Malmsteen among others. Born in Commack, New York, Macaluso started playing drums at age 11. Having recorded on more than 200 records and played on multiple world tours, he continues to write and record music, perform live, do clinics and teach.

<i>Systematic Chaos</i> 2007 studio album by Dream Theater

Systematic Chaos is the ninth studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater. Released on June 4, 2007 in the United Kingdom and June 5, 2007 in the United States, Systematic Chaos was the band's first release through Roadrunner Records, which was sold to their previous label Atlantic Records, through which the band had released their previous studio album Octavarium (2005). The album was recorded from September 2006 to February 2007 at Avatar Studios in New York City, after the band's first break from summer touring in ten years. The lyrics of the album were written by John Petrucci, James LaBrie, and Mike Portnoy about fictional, political, and personal topics, respectively. This is their first album to not begin the album with the last notes from their last songs on the previous album, which they did from the past four albums.

Universum (band)

Universum are a heavy metal band from Adelaide, South Australia. The band completed formation in early 2007 and describe their sound a fusion of Scandinavian melodic death metal, new wave American metal, old school thrash metal and progressive metal. UNIVERSUM have released two albums to date, the debut album Leto Destinatus on 15 June 2008 and their second album Mortuus Machina on 1 January 2011.

"One More Time" is the first track from Dream Theater lead vocalist James Labrie's second solo album Static Impulse. Along with the song "I Need You" it was released a month before the album to promote it. It was written by James LaBrie and Keyboard player Matt Guillory. All the vocals in the verses are performed by Swedish drummer Peter Wildoer. He performs screamed vocals throughout the album, Matt Guillory also performs additional screamed vocals throughout the album.

Jens Peter Daniel Bogren is a Swedish record producer, mixer and recording engineer who has worked on albums by Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura, Arch Enemy, At the Gates, Katatonia, Babymetal, Soilwork, James LaBrie, Moonspell, God Forbid, Kreator, Devin Townsend, Ihsahn, Dark Tranquillity, Paradise Lost, Amon Amarth, DragonForce, The Ocean, Haken, Between the Buried and Me, Rotting Christ, Symphony X, Myrath, Angra, Dir En Grey, and Powerwolf, amongst others. Bogren lives in Örebro, Sweden and runs both Fascination Street Studios and Bogren Digital.

A Dramatic Turn of Events is the eleventh studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released worldwide in September 2011 through Roadrunner Records. It is the band's first recording to feature drummer Mike Mangini, following the departure of founding member Mike Portnoy in September 2010. The album was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered between January and June 2011 at Cove City Sound Studios in Long Island, New York. It was produced by guitarist John Petrucci and mixed by Andy Wallace. Two singles, "On the Backs of Angels" and "Build Me Up, Break Me Down", were released in promotion of the album.

Impermanent Resonance is the third solo album and fifth solo project by Canadian singer James LaBrie. It was released on July 29, 2013, in Europe and on August 6, 2013, in North America.

Eumeria is a multi-national Progressive Metal band, formed in 2009 by American keyboardist Bobby Williamson, and British musicians Jonny Tatum (vocals) and Reece Fullwood (guitars). The band name is rumored to be derived from a cross between the words "Europe" and "America".
