Steadman S. Shealy Jr. (born June 8,1958) is an American attorney and former college football quarterback. He is best known as the starting quarterback on the University of Alabama's 1979 national championship team. Shealy was also a member of the 1978 national championship team,but played back-up to Jeff Rutledge. After his collegiate career he was twice elected to the Alabama State Board of Education in 1986 and 1990 as a Democrat.
Shealy is a lifelong resident of Dothan,Alabama. After graduating from high school in 1976,he played football on a scholarship for coach Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama. Shealy was a Wishbone formation quarterback for the Tide from 1976 to 1979. He was part of Alabama's 28 consecutive wins—the longest win streak in school history—from 1978 to 1980. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. [3] Shealy hosted The Bear Bryant Show in 1982 and served as a graduate assistant in the football program while attending law school. [4] He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1984. [3]
Shealy joined the Dothan law firm of Buntin &Cobb as an associate in 1984. Today he is a senior partner in the firm,which is now known as Shealy,Crum &Pike,P.C. He practices civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance,corporate defense,personal injury,and product liability. Shealy and his wife,Ann,have five children,Steadman Jr.,Jacqueline, [5] Anna Catharine,Robert,and John David. [3]
Paul William "Bear" Bryant was an American college football player and coach. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest college football coaches of all time,and best known as the head coach of the University of Alabama football team,the Alabama Crimson Tide,from 1958 to 1982. During his 25-year tenure as Alabama's head coach,he amassed six national championships and 13 conference championships. Upon his retirement in 1982,he held the record for the most wins (323) as a head coach in collegiate football history. The Paul W. Bryant Museum,Paul W. Bryant Hall,Paul W. Bryant Drive,and Bryant–Denny Stadium are all named in his honor at the University of Alabama.

The Alabama–Auburn football rivalry,better known as the Iron Bowl,is an American college football rivalry game between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn University Tigers,both charter members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and both teams are located in the state of Alabama. The series is considered one of the most important football rivalries in American sports. The rivalry,which started in 1893,was played for many years at Legion Field in Birmingham,Alabama. In the early 20th Century,Birmingham was the leading industrial city of the South,rivaling Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania,in the production of pig iron,coke,coal and the manufacture of steel. Thus,the term "Iron Bowl" came to represent the rivalry. Auburn Coach Ralph "Shug" Jordan is credited with actually coining it—when asked by reporters in 1964 how he would deal with the disappointment of not taking his team to a bowl game,he responded,"We've got our bowl game. We have it every year. It's the Iron Bowl in Birmingham."
Lee Roy Jordan is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide under head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant,he played 14 years in the NFL for the Cowboys from 1963 to 1976. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983.

Frank William Thomas was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Chattanooga from 1925 to 1928 and at the University of Alabama from 1931 to 1946,compiling a career college football record of 141–33–9. During his tenure at Alabama,Thomas amassed a record of 115–24–7 and won four Southeastern Conference titles while his teams allowed an average of just 6.3 points per game. Thomas's 1934 Alabama team completed a 10–0 season with a victory over Stanford in the Rose Bowl and was named national champion by a number of selectors.
Michael Lynn DuBose is an American football coach,most recently serving for Opp High School in Opp,Alabama. His most recent college coaching experience was serving as defensive line coach for the University of Memphis. DuBose came to Memphis from Millsaps College,where he was the Majors' head coach from 2006 to 2009. He resurrected the school's struggling football program by winning outright or sharing a conference title in each of his four seasons there. DuBose is best known for his four-year stint as the head football coach at his alma mater,the University of Alabama,where he led the Crimson Tide to an SEC championship in 1999.

From 1958 to 1982,the team was led by Hall of Fame coach Paul "Bear" Bryant,who won six national titles with the program. Alabama then had a dominant run under head coach Nick Saban between 2007 and 2023,resulting in six further national titles.

The 1991 Sunkist Fiesta Bowl,part of the 1990 bowl game season,took place on January 1,1991,at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe,Arizona. The competing teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide,representing the Southeastern Conference (SEC),and the Louisville Cardinals,competing as a football independent. In what was the 20th edition of the Fiesta Bowl,Louisville won the game 34–7.

They finished season with eleven wins and one loss,as SEC champions and as national champions after a victory over Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. Alabama's costumed "Big Al" mascot officially debuted this season,appearing at the Sugar Bowl.

They finished the season undefeated and with a victory over Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl. For their collective efforts,the Crimson Tide were recognized as unanimous national champions for the 1979 season.
Mal Mathad Moore was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the athletic director at the University of Alabama from 1999 to 2013. On November 23,1999,he was hired as athletic director after spending almost thirty years in other areas with the university. As a player,coach,and director of athletics,Moore was part of ten national championship football teams. In May 2012,he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Moore died March 30,2013,in Durham,North Carolina.

Thomas Randolph Campbell is a former American football player and coach. He is best known for his two years as Auburn University's starting quarterback where he set NCAA passing records and was the leader of the 1983 SEC Championship Tigers and the MVP of the 1982 Tangerine Bowl.
The Bear Bryant Show was a weekly coaches' show that served as a weekly recap of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team's previous day's game. The show ran during the tenure of head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant from the 1958 through the 1982 seasons. Co-hosted by John Forney (1961–1965),Bill Austin (1966),Charley Thornton (1967–1981) and Steadman Shealy (1982),The Bear Bryant Show was a cultural phenomenon within the state of Alabama that contributed to the rise in popularity and awareness of the university's football program during the 1960s and 1970s. The show ran for an hour during its entire run.
