Jan Stefan Persson (born 3 February 1967) is a former freestyle swimmer from Sweden. His best result is a fourth place on 1500m Freestyle at the European LC Championships 1987 in Strasbourg.

Persson also held the Swedish record in 800m and 1500m Freestyle in short course as well as the 1500m Freestyle in long course (all three set in 1987 [1] ), until they were beaten by Victor Johansson in 2014, [2] 2016 [3] and 2016 [4] respectively.

Persson participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul finishing 17th on the 1500m Freestyle. He was affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley in the United States.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Grammis</span> Swedish music award

The Grammis are music awards presented annually to musicians and songwriters in Sweden. The oldest Swedish music awards were instituted as a local equivalent of the Grammy Awards given in the United States. The awards ceremony is generally held each year in February in Stockholm. The awards were established in 1969 and awarded until 1972 when they were cancelled, then revived in 1987.

The Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal is an annual award "for the most significant Swedish sports achievement of the year". It has been awarded by a jury led by the Swedish morning paper Svenska Dagbladet since 1925. According to its statutes the Medal may be awarded in November or December to either an individual sportsperson or a team. An individual can be awarded the Medal no more than twice, and to receive a second medal, that athlete must be "regarded a class of his own".

Signe Dagmar Charlotta Johansson-Engdahl was a Swedish diver. She competed at the 1924 Summer Olympics in the 3 m springboard and placed fifth. From the death of Erna Sondheim on 9 January 2008 until her own death, she was believed to be the oldest living person to have competed in the Olympic games. She was married to the Olympic runner Nils Engdahl, and her sister-in-law Märta Johansson was also an Olympic diver.

<i>Musikhjälpen</i> Swedish radio and television program

Musikhjälpen is a Swedish televised benefit performance radio show marathon. The annually recurring show is a charity fundraiser for a chosen cause, the cause is changed each year. Three radio hosts or television personalities are locked inside a glass building for 144 hours. Each presenter acts as a host for eight hours respectively, totaling three shifts per day. It is broadcast in December, during one week, with dates varying each year.

Sweden participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "If I Were Sorry" written by Oscar Fogelström, Michael Saxell, Fredrik Andersson and Frans Jeppsson Wall. The song was performed by Frans. In addition to participating in the contest, the Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest after winning the competition in 2015 with the song "Heroes" performed by Måns Zelmerlöw. SVT organised the national final Melodifestivalen 2016 in order to select the Swedish entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm. After a six-week-long competition consisting of four heats, a Second Chance round and a final, "If I Were Sorry" performed by Frans emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from eleven international jury groups and a public vote.

Sweden competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Swedish athletes have competed at every Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis.
