History

SCU's story began in 1941 when a group of friends and businessmen came together to discuss the idea of establishing a credit union for the Steinbach community.

No one could have imagined that what began as a list of transactions in a 5¢ scribbler stuffed into the crowded drawer of a bookkeeper's office desk would grow to become one of the largest single branch credit unions in Canada—a fact that remained true until SCU opened its second branch in Winnipeg in 2003.
