Rhamphochromis woodi is a species of piscivorous cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi where it prefers open waters at depths of from 8 to 121 metres. This species can reach a length of 42 centimetres (17 in) TL. It can also be found in the aquarium trade. The specific name honours Rodney C. Wood, whose collection of cichlids from Lake Malawi, which included the type of this species, was presented to the British Museum.

Omobranchus woodi, the Kappie blenny, is a species of combtooth blenny found in the southeast Atlantic and western Indian Ocean. This species can grow to a length of 8 centimetres (3.1 in) SL. The identity of the person honoured in this species' specific name is given as J. Wood of Natal who collected many marine specimens, including the type of this species.

Clinus woodi, the Oldman klipfish, is a species of clinid that occurs in subtropical waters of the Indian Ocean from Mozambique to South Africa where it can be found in tide pools with plentiful seaweed and in the subtidal zone. This species can reach a maximum length of 16 centimetres (6.3 in) TL. The identity of the person honored in the specific name of the species was not given by J.L.B. Smith but it is thought to be his friend Alexander Thomas Wood (1872-1957) of Xora Mouth, South Africa which is the type locality for C. woodi. Wood provided specimens to Smith and had a cottage that Smith often used as a base for carrying out fieldwork.

Novaculops woodi, the Hawaiian sandy or Wood's wrasse, is a species of marine ray-finned fish from the family Labridae, the wrasses. This wrasse is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean where it is found in areas of sandy rubble as depths of less than 48 metres (157 ft). Novaculops woodi was originally described as Xyrichtys woodi in 1901 by the American physiologist and histologist Oliver Peebles Jenkins (1850-1935) with the type locality given as Honolulu. peebles gave this species the specific name woodi in honour of the Stanford University professor of hygiene Thomas Denison Wood.
