Cst. [1] Stephanie Guzzwell (born May 1, 1987 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador) is a Canadian curler who resides in Oxford, Nova Scotia. [2]

Career

Juniors

Guzzwell was a member of the Stacie Devereaux junior rink, which finished 7th place at the 2003 Canada Winter Games [3] and won four Newfoundland and Labrador junior women's championships between 2004 and 2007. Guzzell played third on the team. The team represented the province at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in each of those years, going 8–4 in 2004, 5–7 in 2005, 5–6 in 2006 and winning the championship in 2007, with a 12–1 record. The team represented Canada at the 2007 World Junior Curling Championships, winning a silver medal. After posting a 6–3 round robin record, they won their semifinal match against Denmark, but lost in the final against Scotland.

Women's

After juniors, Guzzwell remained a member of the Devereaux rink. The team won the 2011 Newfoundland and Labrador Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women's championship. [4] They represented the province at the national 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, where they finished with a 1–10 record. Guzzwell left the team after the season.

Guzzwell skipped her own team for two seasons between 2013 and 2015 before joining the Heather Strong rink as her third between 2015 and 2017.

Guzzwell joined the Kelli Sharpe (Turpin) rink in 2018 as her third. The team won the 2019 Newfoundland and Labrador Scotties Tournament of Hearts. [5]

Personal life

Guzzwell is employed as a police officer with the RCMP. [2] She is originally from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. [6] Guzzwell attended Memorial University as a business administration student. [7] While at Memorial, Guzzwell was the skip of the university's curling team. They played in the 2008 national championship. [8]

Erin Carmody is a Canadian curler, originally from Prince Edward Island but residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as of 2019. As of 2024, she plays lead on Team Heather Smith. A native of the city of Summerside, Carmody was a biology student at the University of Prince Edward Island when she broke onto the curling scene by winning three consecutive provincial junior championships, twice with an undefeated record. She entered the national scene in 2010 after forming a rink with longtime teammate Geri-Lynn Ramsay and veteran curlers Kathy O'Rourke and Trisha Affleck that captured the 2010 provincial championships at the senior level. At the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the squad made it all the way to the final, but lost in the last match to three-time tournament champion Jennifer Jones. After the event, Carmody was presented with the Sandra Schmirler Most Valuable Player Award.

Stacie Curtis is a curler originally from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a four-time provincial junior champion, three time provincial women's champion and 2007 Canadian Junior champion and World Junior silver medalist.

Stephanie "Steph" Mumford is a Canadian curler from Sarnia, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Shelley Hardy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts</span>

The 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held from February 1 to 9 at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal, Quebec. The defending champion Rachel Homan rink won their second straight title, with Homan becoming the youngest skip to ever win back-to-back championships. The team went undefeated throughout the tournament, with the team never even being forced to throw their final rock in any of their games.

The St. John's Curling Club is a curling club in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The club plays at the RE/MAX Centre in Central St. John's, on Mayor Ave. It is the largest curling club in the province.
