Stephen Stanley is an American politician,who has served in the Maine House of Representatives since 2012. He represents the 143rd district as a member of the Maine Democratic Party.
He previously served in the House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002, [1] and in the Maine Senate from 2002 to 2004. [2]
Michael Herman Michaud is an American businessman and politician from Maine. Michaud served as the U.S. representative for Maine's 2nd congressional district from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The primarily rural district comprises nearly 80% of the state by area and includes the cities of Lewiston,Auburn,Bangor,Presque Isle,and Ellsworth. It is the largest Congressional district by area east of the Mississippi River.
The Maine Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Maine. It is a bicameral body composed of the lower house Maine House of Representatives and the upper house Maine Senate. The Legislature convenes at the State House in Augusta,where it has met since 1832.
The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes,though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state. Because it is a part-time position,members of the Maine House of Representatives usually have outside employment as well. Members are limited to four consecutive terms of two years each,but may run again after two years.
The Maine Green Independent Party is a state-level political party affiliated with the Green Party of the United States. It is the oldest state green party in the United States. It was founded following an informal meeting of 17 environmental advocates,including Bowdoin College professor John Rensenbrink and others in Augusta,Maine in January 1984. From 1994 to 2006,the party's gubernatorial nominees received between 6% and 10% of the vote.
The Maine Republican Party is an affiliate of the United States Republican Party in Maine. It was founded in Strong,Maine,on August 7,1854. The party currently does not control the governor's office or either chamber of the Maine Legislature,nor either of Maine's two U.S. House seats and only controls one of the state's U.S. Senate seats.
Matthew Dunlap is an American politician from Maine who is the Maine State Auditor. A Democrat,Dunlap served as Secretary of State of Maine from January 7,2013,to January 4,2021,and previously served in that same post from 2005 to 2011. In 2012,he sought to become his party's nominee to replace retiring Olympia Snowe,but lost in the primary to State Senator Cynthia Dill. Prior to his first election as Secretary of State in 2005,he represented Old Town in the Maine House of Representatives for four terms beginning in 1996. On December 2,2020,Dunlap was elected Maine State Auditor by the Maine Legislature and took office on January 4,2021. Dunlap had to vacate the position after failing the exams needed to meet the requirements of the position the following October,and was replaced by Jacob Norton. He did later meet the requirements and was selected for the position again on November 14,2022.
John L. Martin is an American politician of the Democratic Party. Martin has been in Maine politics since his first election to the Maine House of Representatives in 1964,and is sometimes called "The Earl of Eagle Lake" as a result. With his election in 2014,he is the longest serving legislator in Maine history.

Dale McCormick is an American politician from the state of Maine who currently serves on the city council of Augusta. McCormick was the first openly gay member of the Maine State Legislature,having been elected in 1990 to the first of three terms in the Maine Senate. A Democrat,she represented a largely rural district that included her then-residence in Hallowell. After narrowly losing a congressional bid,she served as state treasurer and as director of the Maine State Housing Authority.
Mark W. Lawrence is an American lawyer and Democratic politician currently serving in the Maine Senate. Lawrence represents Senate District 35,comprising the towns of Eliot,Kittery,Ogunquit,South Berwick,York and part of Berwick. Lawrence was born in Kittery and attended Bowdoin College and the University of Maine School of Law where he was elected to his first term in the Maine House of Representatives. He has served a total of three terms in the Maine House and is serving his sixth nonconsecutive term in the Maine Senate,where he served as president from 1996 to 2000. Lawrence was the 2000 Democratic United States Senate nominee,challenging incumbent Olympia Snowe,and in 2008 he unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for Maine's 1st congressional district. Lawrence pursued private law practice for 14 years before becoming the York County District Attorney from 2003 to 2010. In 2010,he returned to private practice and operates the Lawrence Law Firm out of Kittery.
