The University of Central Florida (UCF) is a public research university with its main campus in unincorporated Orange County,Florida. It is part of the State University System of Florida. With 68,442 students as of the fall 2022 semester,UCF has the second-largest on-campus student body of any public university in the United States. John C. Hitt was an American professor and academic administrator,who served as the fourth president of the University of Central Florida in Orlando,Florida from 1992 to 2018. He was named the Orlando Sentinel's Central Floridian of the Year in 2005,and twice Orlando's most powerful person by Orlando Magazine. He was the dean of Florida's university presidents,as the longest tenured president in the state. His reputation was materially tarnished by auditor findings that tens of millions of dollars were improperly spent on construction during his tenure as president. He acknowledged the spending and resigned from his compensated fundraising role. His successor Dale Whittaker and the university's chief financial officer Bill Merck also resigned because of the scandal. Four other financial officers were fired.

The National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) is an organization of colleges and universities that have agreed to help student athletes finish their decrees. NCAS was established in 1985 by Richard Lapchick at the Center for the Study of Sports in Society at Northeastern University. The NCAS National Office was relocated to Orlando,Florida on the campus of the University of Central Florida in 2001.

In the late 1990s he was the assistant director of the Caribbean Research Center.
Thad Altman is a Republican politician who currently serves as a member of the Florida House of Representatives,representing parts of the Melbourne area in central Brevard County since 2016. On March 22,2019,Currall was named to succeed Judy Genshaft as president of the University of South Florida,and took office July 1,2019. A library at the Henderson,Nevada location of the aforementioned institution has been named in his honor as has a lecture hall at another of its locations in Middletown,New York. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors,and is the executive vice president of American Collegiate Acquisitions,Inc.
James D. Spaniolo is an American attorney,professor,and former university administrator. He was the president of the University of Texas at Arlington from 2004 until his retirement in 2013.
