Steven Dail is a musician who is known for playing bass guitar in several Christian metal bands including Project 86 and White Lighter, [2] and Christian punk band Crash Rickshaw. [3] Other bands he has played in are Starflyer 59, [4] Low & Behold, [5] Innermeans and Bloodshed. [6]

Dail is best known for his career with the alternative metal band Project 86, but he has also been a part of several other notable projects. [7] Though Dail continues actively with White Lighter and Starflyer 59, he mentioned recently that Neon Horse and Crash Rickshaw could potentially reunite. [7]

History

Dail began his musical career with the band Innermeans, a hardcore punk band out of California. [7] In this band, he started off playing guitars. The band would record their debut EP, Innermeans, which was released in 1997. [7] Afterward, the band disbanded, which according to Dail, was not a dramatic ordeal. [7] With Innermeans disbanded, a majority of the members, including Dail, joined Bloodshed. [8] [7] However, Bloodshed did not continue under that name, instead going under the name Slingshot David, recording an EP. [7] [9]

By this point, Dail had gotten to know Andrew Schwab and Randy Torres very well. [7] Project 86 had been an active band prior to Dail joining, with Ethan Luck being the active bassist. Dail replaced Luck after his departure, and helped record on the band's debut album, Project 86 . [7] Dail, throughout his career with the band, would be one of the band's most prolific songwriters, alongside Torres, with the pair writing a majority of the songs on Drawing Black Lines and a majority of the material following. [7] In 2001, Dail and Alex Albert of Project 86, Innermeans formed Crash Rickshaw with Joby Harris, a longtime friend of Dail's. [7] They released Crash Rickshaw in 2001.

Throughout the band's career, Project 86's core lineup would continue working together on the next three records, Truthless Heroes which Atlantic Records released, Songs to Burn Your Bridges By which the band self-released initially, and ...And the Rest Will Follow . [7] At this time, Albert departed from the band. Though Albert remained bandmates with Torres and Dail in Crash Rickshaw, he was no longer involved in Project 86. At this time, Dail joined Starflyer 59, focusing a different genre of music. In his first year with Starflyer 59, he recorded two releases with the band – I Win and My Island .

The same year, Project 86 released their sixth album, Rival Factions . [7] It saw a departure from the typical sound the band had portrayed, taking a much more alternative rock and gothic rock approach, as well as introducing new drummer Jason Gerken. After the album was finished, however, Torres would depart from the band in 2009. [7] Around the same time, Crash Rickshaw releases their second album, which was their final release. Dail wrote and recorded a majority of the band's next album, Picket Fence Cartel , even playing guitar and bass on the album, as well taking demos from Torres. [7] After the album came out, Dail would tour with the band on the Scream the Prayer Tour, which lasted about nine weeks. [10]

Following the tour, Dail departed from the band, citing that he had been miserable and stressed for a long time and regretted not leaving when Torres left, who had been his best friend for years. [7] By this time, Neon Horse and Crash Rickshaw had both ended, leaving Dail's only active venture being Starflyer 59. [7]

The band's sound was initially identified as an outgrowth of the shoegaze movement of the early 1990s, but the band's music has gradually evolved to the point of little resemblance to that of its early days.

Jason Martin is a musician from Southern California. He is best known as a member of the indie rock band Starflyer 59, one of the first bands to sign with Tooth & Nail Records.

He has filled in as rhythm guitarist for the band Demon Hunter and as keyboardist, guitarist, percussionist and background vocalist for Anberlin on a recent tour. He has worked as a producer/engineer for Aaron Sprinkle, and for the A&R division of Tooth & Nail Records. He is now a composer for film & TV. He currently is working on a project with Ryan Clark called NYVES, funded through Kickstarter.

Crash Rickshaw is a side project of the post-hardcore band Project 86. It was founded by Alex Albert, Steven Dail and Joby Harris, with Randy Torres joining later. Crash Rickshaw released their self-titled album on September 11, 2001, on Tooth & Nail Records. Their second album, The Unknown Clarity, was released on iTunes on March 11, 2008.

They were previously signed to Tooth & Nail Records with whom they have released two studio albums. Neon Horse's sound has been described as a being influenced by the music of the 1980s.

Mark Salomon is an American singer best known as the lead singer of the hard rock bands Stavesacre and the Crucified. Other bands in which he has been a key member include the punk rock Outer Circle and rap-oriented Native Son and Neon Horse. In both Stavesacre and the Crucified, he served as primary lyricist as well.

This Time of Year EP is the second EP by American Christian rock band Project 86. The release was first announced on September 23, 2008 through the band's official MySpace blog. Nine days later, the band released a further update naming the new release as This Time of Year, and specifying the release date as November 18, 2008. The release date was then changed to November 25, 2008. The EP contains four new songs, as well as a cover of the song, This Time of The Year, which was created for the Christmas season of 2007. The instrumental song "What Child?" uses elements from the traditional English folk song Greensleeves.

Bloodshed was a Christian hardcore band established in the early 1990s. The band released a demo in 1993 and two EPs through Solid State Records. The band formed in 1992 with the original lineup of Jason Fleetwood, Sean Stopnik, Jonathan Caro, Justice Gulmatico, and John Kittrell. In 1997, the band changed their name to Slingshot David, but disbanded six months later.
