Steven Galloway is an American politician from Montana. He is a Republican member of the Montana House of Representatives for district 24. [1]

Montana is a state in the Mountain West subregion of the Western United States. It borders Idaho to the west,North Dakota and South Dakota to the east,Wyoming to the south,and the Canadian provinces of Alberta,British Columbia,and Saskatchewan to the north. It is the fourth-largest state by area,the eighth-least populous state,and the third-least densely populated state. Its capital is Helena,while the most populous city is Billings. The western half of the state contains numerous mountain ranges,while the eastern half is characterized by western prairie terrain and badlands,with smaller mountain ranges found throughout the state.
Dumfries and Galloway is one of the 32 unitary council areas of Scotland,located in the western part of the Southern Uplands. It is bordered by East Ayrshire,South Ayrshire,and South Lanarkshire to the north;Scottish Borders to the north-east;the English ceremonial county of Cumbria,the Solway Firth,and the Irish Sea to the south,and the North Channel to the west. The administrative centre and largest settlement is the town of Dumfries. The second largest town is Stranraer,located 76 miles (122 km) to the west of Dumfries on the North Channel coast.

U.S. Route 10 or U.S. Highway 10 (US 10) is an east–west United States Numbered Highway located in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions of the U.S. Unlike most U.S. Highways with "0" as the last digit of its route number,US 10 is not a cross-country highway. US 10 was one of the original long-haul highways,running from Detroit,Michigan,to Seattle,Washington,but then lost much of its length when new Interstate Highways were built on top of its right-of-way.
The Bitterroot Salish are a Salish-speaking group of Native Americans,and one of three tribes of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation in Montana. The Flathead Reservation is home to the Kootenai and Pend d'Oreilles tribes also. Bitterroot Salish or Flathead originally lived in an area west of Billings,Montana extending to the continental divide in the west and south of Great Falls,Montana extending to the Montana–Wyoming border. From there they later moved west into the Bitterroot Valley. By request,a Catholic mission was built here in 1841. In 1891 they were forcibly moved to the Flathead Reservation.
The Kaniksu National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located in northeastern Washington,the Idaho Panhandle,and northwestern Montana. It is one of three forests that are aggregated into the Idaho Panhandle National Forests,along with the Coeur d'Alene National Forest and St. Joe National Forest. Kaniksu National Forest has a total area of 1,627,833 acres (6,587.6 km2). About 55.7% is in Idaho,27.9% in Montana,and 16.4% in Washington.

The 1930 United States Senate election in Montana took place on November 3,1936. Incumbent United States Senator James E. Murray,who was first elected to the Senate in a special election in 1934,ran for re-election. He narrowly emerged from a competitive and close Democratic primary,wherein he was challenged by United States Congressman Joseph P. Monaghan,who represented Montana's 1st congressional district. In the general election,Murray was opposed by Thomas O. Larson,a State Senator and the Republican nominee,and Monaghan,who,after losing the primary,ran as an independent candidate. Murray ended up winning a second term,and his first full term,in a landslide,defeating both of his opponents by a comfortable margin.

Mazurek v. Armstrong,520 U.S. 968 (1997),was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court upheld a Montana law permitting only licensed physicians to perform abortions. The Court summarily reversed a ruling of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that had held that the law was likely intended to inhibit abortion access. In a per curiam opinion,a majority of the Court found that there was no evidence that the Montana legislature acted with an invalid intent. The Court also reiterated its earlier holding in Planned Parenthood v. Casey that the states have broad flexibility to regulate abortion so long as their regulations do not create an undue burden on a woman's right to choose. Three dissenting justices,in an opinion by Justice John Paul Stevens,wrote that they would have declined to hear the case because proceedings were still pending in the lower courts. The law itself was later struck down by the Montana Supreme Court on state-constitutional grounds.
