Benjamin Fitzpatrick was an American politician who served as the 11th Governor of Alabama and as a United States Senator from that state. He was a Democrat.
Preston Hopkins Leslie was the 26th Governor of Kentucky from 1871 to 1875,and territorial governor of Montana from 1887 to 1889. He ascended to the office of governor by three different means. First,he succeeded Kentucky governor John W. Stevenson upon the latter's resignation to accept a seat in the United States Senate in 1871. Later that year,he was elected to a full term as governor,defeating John Marshall Harlan in the general election. Finally,he was appointed territorial governor by President Grover Cleveland.
Sidney Edgerton was an American politician,lawyer,judge and teacher from Ohio. He served during the American Civil War,as a Squirrel Hunter. During this time,Edgerton served as a U.S. Congressman. In 1863,Abraham Lincoln appointed him the first Chief justice of the Idaho Territorial Supreme Court. Edgerton lobbied for the creation of separate territories,out of the Idaho Territory,and in 1864,Abraham Lincoln appointed Edgerton as the first Territorial Governor of Montana. During his term as Territorial Governor,he was an alleged member of the infamous Montana Vigilantes,and was reputedly among its founders.
Roy Brown is a former Montana state senator from Billings,Montana Senate District 25. He served four terms in the Montana House of Representatives and was elected to the state senate in 2007. He was the Republican nominee for the governor seat in Montana with Steve Daines in 2008. In 2010,Representative Kendall Van Dyk defeated Brown in the general election.

He won the Republican primary and advanced to the general election,where he faced John W. Bonner,the former Attorney General of Montana and the Democratic nominee. Ultimately,Bonner defeated Ford handily in his bid for re-election,winning his first and only term as governor.
Earl Abbath Fitzpatrick was a Virginia lawyer and member of the Virginia General Assembly representing Roanoke between 1940 and 1959,first as a delegate and then as a state Senator. A lieutenant in the Byrd Organization,Fitzpatrick was active in the Massive Resistance to racial integration vowed by U.S. Senator Harry F. Byrd after the U.S. Supreme Court decisions in Brown v. Board of Education. He introduced much of the segregationist legislation and was vice-chairman of the Boatwright Committee which investigated the NAACP for litigating on behalf of civil rights,before being defeated in the 1959 Democratic primary.
