Gail Armstrong is an American politician and businesswoman serving as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 49th district. [1]
Armstrong was born in Socorro,New Mexico and raised on a ranch near Magdalena,New Mexico.
Prior to serving in the New Mexico House of Representatives,Armstrong was a member of the committee that organizes the Socorro County Fair. Armstrong was also a board member and one-time president of the Magdalena Municipal School District. She served on the board of the Natural Lands Protection Committee and New Mexico School Board Association,New Mexico Sentencing Commission,and New Mexico State Apprenticeship Council. [2] Armstrong has also founded and operated several small businesses,including a plumbing company and boutique hotel. [3] [4] Armstrong also worked as a political aide in the office of House Speaker Don Tripp,who she succeeded in the upon Tripp's retirement. [5] [6]
In 2019,Armstrong voted against a bill to expand background checks on private firearms,citing the potential difficulty of enforcing new regulations in rural New Mexico. [7]
Armstrong and her husband,Dale,have four children. [8]
Socorro County is a county in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2020 census,the population was 16,595. The county seat is Socorro. The county was formed in 1852 as one of the original nine counties of New Mexico Territory. Socorro was originally the name given to a Native American village by Don Juan de Oñate in 1598. Having received vitally needed food and assistance from the native population,Oñate named the pueblo Socorro.

The New Mexico Rail Runner Express is a commuter rail system serving the metropolitan areas of Albuquerque and Santa Fe,New Mexico. It is administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the Rio Metro Regional Transit District,a regional transportation agency,while Herzog Transit Services currently holds the contract for the operation and maintenance of the line &equipment. Phase I of the system,operating on an existing right-of-way from Belen to Bernalillo that NMDOT purchased from BNSF Railway,opened in July 2006. Phase II,the extension of the line to Santa Fe,opened in December 2008. Daily ridership,as of February 2019,was 2,200 trips per day. In 2023,the system had a ridership of 584,400,or about 2,800 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2024.
The El Camino Real Historic Trail Site was a center about the culture and history about the El Camino Real trail and the colonization of New Mexico. The center,an official New Mexico Historic Site,opened in 2005 and closed in 2016. The Center featured exhibit panels and artifacts about the people who traveled along the trail,the desert and life in the 18th century.
Belen is the southern terminus of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter rail line,located in the center of the town of Belen,New Mexico,near the intersection of Reinken Avenue and Wisconsin Street. It serves residents of Belen and surrounding communities in Valencia County,New Mexico. The station began service on February 2,2007,as the fifth station on the line.

He was the title-holder in 1690–1695,and effective governor in 1692–1696 and 1703–1704. He is known for leading the reconquest of the territory in 1692 following the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. It is a part of an extensive Eocene to Oligocene volcanic event which includes the San Juan volcanic field in southwestern Colorado,the Trans-Pecos volcanic field in west Texas and north central Mexico,the Boot Heel volcanic field in the bootheel of southwestern New Mexico and adjacent areas of Arizona and Mexico;and the vast volcanic field of the Sierra Madre Occidental of western Mexico. The Mogollon-Datil volcanic field was formed in "four discrete pulses representing synchronized activity of two separate cauldron complexes".
