Archuleta was a recipient of a 1985 National Heritage Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts,which is the United States government's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. He is the co-founder of several organizations,including Moving Arts Española,La Tierra Montessori School for the Arts and Sciences,and Española Pathways Shelter. On April 20,2023,the New Mexico Public Education Commission voted to revoke La Tierra Montessori School for the Arts and Science's charter. He was nominated for the 2019 CNN Hero of the Year.
