Background

Steve has played for Scotland at A, under-21 and under-19 levels as well as appearing in the Scotland Sevens squad, making his debut in the 2008 London Sevens tournament and Twickenham and going on to play a week later in the 2008 Edinburgh Sevens at Murrayfield. His Scotland A debut came in the 25-0 win over the United States at Netherdale in November 2010, and he came off the bench in the victory over Italy A in January 2011. Steve captained the Edinburgh under-18, under-19, and under-20 teams who won their respective district championships in successive years (2002 to 2004), and he played for the Scotland under-19 team in the 2002–03 season. Simon Marcus Taylor is a Scottish retired professional rugby union footballer who played for Bath Rugby, Stade Français and Edinburgh Rugby. He played as a back-row forward, usually a number eight. He played for Edinburgh for six seasons between 2000 and 2006 and in 2007 agreed a three-year deal with Stade Français joining them immediately after the 2007 World Cup. In the summer of 2010, Taylor signed for Bath Rugby in the English Aviva Premiership. He also represented Scotland and the British and Irish Lions. Michael Robert Leighton Blair is a Scottish rugby union coach who was formerly a professional player. He is the head coach of Edinburgh. He played at scrum-half for Glasgow Warriors, Newcastle Falcons, CA Brive and Edinburgh Rugby. History of rugby union in Scotland

Rugby union in Scotland in its modern form has existed since the mid-19th century. As with the history of rugby union itself however, it emerged from older traditional forms of football which preceded the codification of the sport. In the same manner as rugby union in England, rugby union in Scotland would grow at a significant rate to the point where Scotland played England in the first ever rugby union international in 1871, a match which was won by the Scottish team.
