Steven Spence is an American musician. He often appears in instagram video skits with other Internet personalities such as Lele Pons, Jason Neubauer and King Bach. From 2007 to 2012, he was the drummer and keyboardist for the heavy metal band Black Tide. [1] [2]
Spence grew up playing guitar and piano, which he taught himself to play by ear. He was mentored by his uncle who played the keyboard with The Wailers. [3] Spence got his first drum kit in 2001 and taught himself how to play. [1] [4] [5] He was accepted and enrolled in Florida State University in Tallahassee. When he auditioned for Black Tide, [1] in 2007, he quit school to tour Ozzfest and record Black Tide's first album Light From Above in Chicago. [1]
In 2009 he was selected as an "Up and Coming" artist in the Modern Drummer Readers' Poll. The same year he won 1st place at the Vans Warped Tour Drum Off. [5] When playing live with Black Tide, Spence would play the drums and keyboard simultaneously. He also recorded keys and piano on various songs including "Into the Sky" on Post Mortem and the title track on Light From Above. [3] In 2012, Spence left Black Tide to work on other projects. [6]
Spence is also a DJ and composer. He has worked with bands including The Mowgli's and Kalin and Myles. [7] [8] In 2014, he collaborated as a songwriter with Clinton Sparks, The Mowgli's and Kylie Morgan on the song "I'm Good." The song was written to be an anthem for the Band Together Project, an initiative created to end bullying. [9]

Strapping Young Lad (SYL) was a Canadian extreme metal band formed by Devin Townsend in Vancouver in 1994. Black Tide was an American heavy metal band from Kendall, Florida. Formed in 2004, the band last consisted of Gabriel Garcia, Austin Diaz and Cody Paige (drums). They released their debut album, Light from Above, on March 18, 2008 through Interscope Records when Garcia was 15 years old. Their second album, Post Mortem, was released on August 23, 2011. Black Tide's EP Bite the Bullet was released on November 12, 2013 by InnerCat Music Group, a Miami-based boutique label. On October 16, 2015 band released their last album Chasing Shadows. On July 22, 2016 Garcia announced on his Instagram that the band is over and he is concentrating on his solo project.

Jay Weinberg is an American musician who is best known as the former drummer of heavy metal band Slipknot. He is the son of longtime Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg. He played with the punk rock band the Reveling and toured in 2009 as a drummer with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, substituting for his father. During 2010, he was briefly the drummer for Madball. During 2011 and 2012, Weinberg played with Against Me!. In 2014, Weinberg replaced Joey Jordison as the drummer for Slipknot. In November 2023, Weinberg left the band.
"Shockwave" is a song by American heavy metal band Black Tide. It is credited to Gabriel Garcia, Alexander Nuñez and Raul Garcia Jr. It was the first track and first single from their 2008 debut album Light from Above, with the other two singles being "Warriors of Time" and "Shout". It was released before the album. Today it is one of the band's most famous songs and has been played live on almost all of the band's concerts, also it was performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 27, 2008. It charted only in the US at number #25. The CD Single was the band's first official release and is also known as the "Black Tide EP". The single version is a clean edit of the song, the word "fuck" that is mentioned in the chorus is removed.

Bite the Bullet is the fourth EP released by the band Black Tide. It was scheduled to be released in the fall of 2013 under the label InnerCat Music Group. The EP was produced and engineered by Mariano Aponte. This is the first release without drummer Steven Spence. The first single titled "Not Afraid", was released on August 31.
New York Electric Piano is an American jazz band created in 2003 by keyboardist Pat Daugherty. The band started as a trio with Aaron Comess playing drums and Tim Givens on double bass. For later albums, they expanded to six and then eight musicians. Their sixth album, Keys to the City, spent a month in the top ten of CMJ's Jazz Chart.
