The All India Trinamool Congress is an Indian political party that is mainly influential in the state of West Bengal. It was founded by Mamata Banerjee on 1 January 1998 as a breakaway faction from the Indian National Congress and rapidly rose to prominence in the politics of West Bengal under her leadership. Presently,it is ruling the state of West Bengal beside being the third-largest party in India in terms of number of MPs just after the BJP and INC.
Mamata Banerjee is an Indian politician who is serving as the eighth and current chief minister of the Indian state of West Bengal since 20 May 2011,the first woman to hold the office. Having served multiple times as a Union Cabinet Minister,Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the first time in 2011. She founded the All India Trinamool Congress in 1998 after separating from the Indian National Congress,and became its second chairperson later in 2001. She often refers to herself as Didi.
Kirtivardhan Bhagwat Jha Azad is an Indian politician and former cricketer,who played seven Test matches and 25 One Day International for the India national cricket team between 1980 and 1986. Azad was a member of the Indian team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup.

He was a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from West Bengal and a former Member of Parliament,Lok Sabha (2009–19) representing Barrackpore constituency of West Bengal. Prior to that he was Member of Parliament,Rajya Sabha for two separate terms. He is the former Union Minister for Railways and the former Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare under Manmohan Singh's cabinet.
Mukul Roy is an Indian politician from West Bengal. He has also served as a Minister of State in the Shipping Ministry and later Ministry of Railways during the second UPA government. Before the creation of Trinamool Congress,he was a member of Indian National Congress. Between 2017 and 2021,Roy left Trinamool Congress to join Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2021,he left BJP and joined TMC.
Suvendu Adhikari is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party who is the current Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly since 2021 and a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Nandigram Assembly constituency since 2021 and from Contai South from 2006 to 2009.
Sovan Chatterjee is an Indian politician. He is a former member of Indian National Congress,Trinamool Congress,and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has also served as the Mayor of Kolkata. Chatterjee served as a Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) councilor since 1985. In 2019,he joined Bharatiya Janata Party,and left in 2021.
Madan Mitra is an Indian politician,actor from West Bengal. Madan Mitra started his career with party Indian National Congress. He held many positions of Indian Youth Congress,the party's youth wing. In 1998,he joined Trinamool Congress party,founded by his colleague Mamata Banerjee,and his movie debut was in the 2023 Bengali film Oh! Lovely. In 2011,he was elected to the legislative assembly and became a state minister. He was arrested for the Sarada Chit Fund conspiracy case and got bail after 22 months.
Rajib Banerjee is an Indian politician who served as the Minister for Forest Affairs in the Government of West Bengal. He was a former Minister in charge of Irrigation &Waterways (2011–2018),and Tribal affairs &backwards classes (2018–2019). He was elected to West Bengal Vidhan Sabha as MLA of Domjur seat in 2011 and 2016 as a member of Trinamool Congress.
Mihir Goswami is an Indian politician from the state of West Bengal. He was a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2001 and 2016–2021,from the Cooch Behar Dakshin constituency. He was the chairman of NBSTC. He was a member of Trinamool Congress party until 2020,when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently represents the Natabari.
Sonali Guha is an Indian politician from the state of West Bengal. Guha is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician. She was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Satgachhia for four terms to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and was the first female deputy speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly as a member of the Trinamool Congress. Later she joined Bharatiya Janata Party after she was denied a ticket to contest the 2021 assembly elections. Now she is again interested to join TMC after the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Elections 2021 results.
Arjun Singh is an Indian politician and a member of parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal. He contested the 2019 Indian general election as a BJP candidate and won against TMC candidate Dinesh Trivedi.
Debendra Nath Roy was an Indian politician. He was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Hemtabad in the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In May 2019,he along with Subhranshu Roy,Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and more than 50 Councillors joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of senior BJP leaders Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya.
Sunil Singh is an Indian politician and a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Noapara in West Bengal,a seat which he won in February 2018 as an All India Trinamool Congress candidate. He was also the chairman of Garulia municipality till September 2019. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in June 2019. Singh left BJP by withdrawing from the municipal councillor candidature on 12 February 2022,after which he rejoined All India Trinamool Congress on 13 February 2022.
Sabyasachi Dutta is an Indian politician from West Bengal. He belongs to the All India Trinamool Congress and was MLA from Rajarhat New Town Vidhan Sabha Constituency. He has also served as the first Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation from 2015 to 2019. In 2019,he joined BJP.
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election was the 17th quinquennial legislative election held in West Bengal,to elect all 294 members of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. This electoral process of 292 seats unfolded between 27 March to 29 April 2021,taking place in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021.
Jitendra Tiwari is an Indian politician. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is the former mayor of Asansol and member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly representing the Pandaveswar constituency.
Biswajit Das is an Indian politician from the All India Trinamool Congress party. In May 2021,he was elected as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Bagdah constituency. He ran for the office as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and defeated Paritosh Kumar Saha of All India Trinamool Congress by 9,792 votes in 2021 West Bengal Assembly election,but returned to the All India Trinamool Congress later in 2021.
The Seventeenth Legislative Assembly of West Bengal constituted after the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections which were concluded earlier on 29 April 2021 and the results were announced on 2 May 2021. The tenure of West Bengal Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 7 May 2026.
