Sumona Chakravarti (born 24 June 1988) [4] is an Indian actress who works in Hindi television productions. She is best known for her roles in Sony TV's daily soap opera, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain , with Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors TV and The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV. In 2024, she participated in the stunt based show, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 , and was placed 7th.

Career

She began her acting career at the age of 11 through Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala starrer Mann in the year 1999. [5] In the next few years she did quite a few television shows but her big breakthrough happened in 2011 when she played the role of Natasha in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain , a television show produced by Balaji Telefilms.

In the following year she participated in the comedy show Kahani Comedy Circus Ki on Sony TV with Kapil Sharma and the duo emerged as the winners of the show. From there on began her professional partnership with Kapil Sharma that is still going on. From June 2013 to January 2016 she was seen as Manju Sharma in Comedy Nights with Kapil where she played the role of Kapil Sharma's wife. In 2016, she came back to the screen with Sony TV's The Kapil Sharma Show which she was seen playing the role of Sarla Gulati, a girl deeply in love with her neighbour Kapil. The show came back with its second season in 2018 where she is playing the role of Bhuri.

Sumona Chakravarti has presented two travel shows namely Dubai Diaries and Swiss Made Adventures both on NDTV Good Times. While she was the host in Dubai Diaries, [6] she went in as a participant seeking the adventurous side of Switzerland in Swiss Made Adventures. [7]

Comedy Nights With Kapil is an Indian Hindi-language sketch comedy and celebrity talk show hosted and produced by comedian Kapil Sharma. It was on-air on Colors TV amid 22 June 2013 to 24 January 2016. Many of the episodes feature celebrity guests who usually appear to promote their latest films in a comedy-focused talk show format. On 25 September 2013, a fire broke out on the sets of the show at Film City in Goregaon causing the entire set to collapse and an estimated loss of 20 Crores. Following the fire, two episodes were shot on sets of Bigg Boss in Lonavla. In September 2013, the show became India's highest rated scripted TV show. At the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year awards, Sharma was awarded the Entertainer of the Year award for 2013.

<i>The Kapil Sharma Show</i> Indian stand-up comedy and talk show

The Kapil Sharma Show, also known as TKSS, is an Indian Hindi language stand-up comedy and talk show broadcast by Sony Entertainment Television. Hosted by Kapil Sharma, the first season of the show premiered on 23 April 2016. The series revolved around Sharma and his neighbours in the Shantivan Non Co-operative Housing Society. The filming of the show took place at Film City situated in Goregaon East, Mumbai. The first season of the show was produced by Sharma's banner K9 Productions in association with Frames Productions while the second and third season were jointly produced by Salman Khan Television and Banijay Asia with K9 Productions and TEAM as the creative producers.
