Sujith Unnikrishnan [1] (born 19 August 1983), known by his stage name Sunny Wayne is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema in second lead to supporting roles. He made his acting debut in Second Show (2012), in which Dulquer Salmaan played the main lead role. [2]

Personal life

Wayne was born to Unnikrishnan and Soumini in Wayanad, on 19 August 1983. His original name is Sujith. He is an alumnus of Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district, Kerala. He married his longtime girlfriend Renjini at Guruvayoor Temple on 10 April 2019. [3] [4] [5]

Career

Sunny Wayne's first work was Second Show which was released in 2012. [6] Indiaglitz.com praised Wayne's portrayal of Kurudi. [7] After that he did a cameo appearance in Vineeth Sreenivasan's musical-romance film Thattathin Marayathu . [8] [9] In 2013, Wayne played a supporting character in Rajeev Ravi's Annayum Rasoolum . He portrayed Rasool's friend Ashley and story unveils through his narration. The Sify.com reviewer stated "Sunny Wayne underlines why he is regarded as one of the most talented actors to have happened to Malayalam cinema during recent times and his narration sets the mood very well." [10] Wayne went on to play the cosmetic surgeon Roshan in Nee Ko Njaa Cha directed by debutant Gireesh. The Times of India wrote "Sunny Wayne throws himself into the character of Dr Roshan, a seasoned playboy with calm elegance. He looks sleek, stylish and sometimes genuinely funny." [11] [12] He then starred in Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, directed by Sameer Thahir. He portrayed the character Satan Xavier in the film Aadu, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The following year, his character Poombata Gireesh in the film Annmariya Kalippilannu (2016) was well acclaimed by the audience. He portrayed the role of Vijay fan in the Movie Pokkiri Simon (2017). [13] [14] [15] Wayne made his Tamil debut with Gypsy.

In 2018, he launched a production company named Sunny Wayne Productions, which produced a theatre drama titled Moment Just Before Death. [16] It produced 2 films:Padavettu, starring Nivin Pauly and Appan, starring himself. [17] [18]

"Muthuchippy Poloru" is a Malayalam song composed by Shaan Rahman that featured in the film Thattathin Marayathu. The lyrics was written by Anu Elizabeth Jose. It was sung by Sachin Warrier and actress Remya Nambeesan. The song was one of the most popular Malayalam songs of 2012 and won several awards. It was later reused in the Telugu remake of Thattathin Marayathu, Saheba Subramanyam, as "Muddu Muddu".

<i>Thattathin Marayathu</i> (soundtrack) 2012 soundtrack album by Shaan Rahman

Thattathin Marayathu is the soundtrack to the 2012 film of the same name directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan starring Nivin Pauly and Isha Talwar. The soundtrack featured 10 songs composed by Shaan Rahman and lyrics written by Sreenivasan himself along with Anu Elizabeth Jose and Engandiyur Chandrasekharan. The soundtrack was released on 8 June 2012 through Satyam Audios and Mathrubhumi Music, to generally positive reviews from critics and the song "Muthuchippi Poloru" was a chartbuster upon release. Rahman was felicitated with several accolades for his work.
