In 2009, his track "Red Mist VIP" reached number one on the UK Dance Chart on the week ending 25 July 2009, and on 7 February 2010, his remix of Liquid's Sweet Harmony gave him his first success on the UK Singles Chart, making No. 64. In October 2010, Byrd reached No. 36 in the UK Singles Chart with the track "Ill Behaviour".

The song was released on 26 September 2010 for digital download and on 27 September 2010 for 12". The song, whose lyrics are based on "One For The Trouble" by A.D.O.R., features the voice of singer-songwriter I-Kay from Bristol, who has worked on several Danny Byrd track releases. "III Behaviour" has been supported by MistaJam, Annie Mac, and Sara Cox on BBC Radio 1. The single was promoted to BBC Radio 1 A-list status on 8 September 2010. The single entered the UK Singles Chart at number 36, Byrd's first top-40 single. It is featured as a soundtrack to the video game F1 2011.
"Sweet Harmony" is a song by British dance act Liquid, originally released on the Liquid EP in 1991, and as a single in 1992. The song samples heavily from CeCe Rogers' "Someday" released in 1987. New remixes of the song were released in 1995, and it was re-released in 2004 and again in 2007, featuring more new mixes.

HiveMag said of the song: "It’s delightfully soulful and gentle, especially in contrast with some of Plan B’s earlier records. It’s a nice wind-down song. It’s peaceful; it’s relaxing and perfect for this time of year. Yes it may be different and maybe we shouldn’t like it, but the vintage sounding, Motown-like track just seems to work.
