Early life and education

Suresh Kumar is an American government official and business leader with extensive experience in international trade and commerce. Born in February 1955 in Secunderabad, India, he spent his early years in Delhi, where he attended St. Columba's School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Delhi University and an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. Kumar began his career as a news and sports anchor on national television in India from 1970 to 1985. [2] [3]

Career in the Private Sector

In the private sector, Kumar held significant roles, including serving on the Group Operating Committee at Johnson & Johnson and as Vice President of Consumer Products for Latin America at Warner Lambert/Pfizer. He also founded KaiZen Innovation, a management consulting firm, and served as a special advisor to the Clinton Foundation, working on economic development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. [4]

Public Service and Achievements

In February 2010, Kumar was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, where he led efforts to promote U.S. exports and support American businesses abroad. [5] After his tenure in public service, he joined Oliver Wyman as a partner in the Health & Life Sciences and Public Sector practice groups. [6] In 2015, he was appointed to the Executive Committee of Sanofi as Executive Vice President of External Affairs. [7]

Recognition and Affiliations

Suresh Kumar is an alumnus of the Thunderbird International Consortium Program. In 2004, he was named Distinguished Executive-in-Residence by the Thunderbird School of Global Management, recognizing his expertise and contributions to global trade. [8]
