Suryadev Singh Bareth is an Indian advocate, poet, and social worker from Alwar, Rajasthan.

Biography

For his contributions to progressive agriculture in the region during Green Revolution, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 1971. Bareth is also a long-time leader of the Indian National Congress active in local body politics. He served as Pradhan of Raini Panchayat samiti. He has composed poems in both Rajasthani as well as Hindi. [1] [2] [3] [4]

In 2019, Bareth highlighted farmers contribution and stated that if the government waives off farmers' debts, it is not a favor but their right. He also highlighted that the cost of farming with stagnant crop prices, leading to farmer disenchantment. Singh urged politicians to prioritize honesty and transparency while advocating for farmers' rights. He expressed concern over the rising number of farmer suicides in the country and requested that the government take steps to reduce the cost of farming, improve irrigation facilities and create a scientific roadmap for agriculture. Bareth remains optimistic despite criticism and believes that India has made great progress in the past 70 years of democracy. He notes the devolution of power to districts and villages, the erosion of caste from social life, and the positive role of various institutions such as the Election Commission of India. [4] Suryadev Singh is a renowned poet and often takes part in literary seminars and conferences. His compositions also include ghazals. [7] [8] [9]

Haridas Kesaria or Haridas Mahiyaria was a 16th-century Mewar chieftain, warrior and poet from Rajasthan. In the Battle of Gagron in 1519, he fought alongside the Mewar army led by Rana Sanga, capturing and imprisoning the Sultan Mahmud Khalji II of Malwa, thus quickly ending the war. He was a close friend of Rana Sanga, participating in many battles and campaigns of Mewar kingdom. He fought as a commander in many battles including Battle of Khatoli, Battle of Gagron, Battle of Dholpur, Rana Sanga's invasion of Gujarat, Battle of Bayana and Battle of Khanwa in which he sacrificed his life on the battlefield while defending Rana Sanga.

Chetavani ra Chungatya is a patriotic Dingal poem composed by Thakur Kesari Singh Barhath in 1903 and addressed to Maharana of Mewar, Fateh Singh, exhorting him to uphold the traditions of his lineage and to not attend the Delhi Durbar. The couplets had the desired effect on the Maharana who decided not to attend the durbar despite being present in Delhi. The work remains one of the great literary works produced during the freedom struggle. It consists of 13 stanzas or sortha (saurashtra-duha).

Suryadev Singh is a former Indian politician based in Bihar, who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly twice from Bikramganj Assembly constituency of Rohtas district. He was first elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly as the candidate of Indian People's Front in 1990 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Later, he defected to Rashtriya Janata Dal and in a run up to 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, he was again elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly, this time, on the symbol of Rashtriya Janata Dal. Before his retirement from politics, following his conviction in a murder case, he was a member of Janata Dal (United). The Bikramganj Assembly constituency ceased to exist after 2005, after the delimitation of constituencies.

Shrinarayan Chaturvedi was an Indian writer, litterateur, publicist, and journalist known for his contributions to the promotion of the Hindi language. He served as the editor of Saraswati. In 1984, he received the Padma Bhushan for contributions to literature from the Government of India.
