Susno Duadji (born 1 July 1954 in Pagar Alam,South Sumatera) is the former head of Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) until his resignation on 5 November 2009. [1] He was promoted to his last position in October 2008 after serving as Chief of Police in West Java Province for less than a year. He has a rank of Police Commissioner General (Komjen Pol.) - equivalent Lieutenant General in the military. His experiences include Chief of Police in Malang,in Madiun,both are in East Java Province,as well as Chief of Police in North Maluku. [2]
Towards the end of his career in 2009,Duadji attracted headlines in Indonesian national media as a result of his alleged involvement in several high-profile corruption cases investigated by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Once applauded for his anti-corruption stance during his tenure as West Java police chief,over time he became increasingly hostile to the activities of the KPK. According to his critics,he allegedly undermined anti-corruption efforts in Indonesia.
On one occasion Duadji met with one Anggoro Widjojo in Singapore at a time that Anggora Widjojo was wanted by KPK for his involvement in a corruption case. [3] This accusation sparked rivalry between Indonesian National Police and the KPK leading to the arrest of two KPK leaders. [4] This arrest in turn touched off a reaction among Indonesian activists due to their concern about moves to weaken the fight against corruption in Indonesia. Most Indonesians view the KPK as more credible than the Indonesian National Police or the Indonesian Attorney General Office in fighting corruption. Various high caliber cases,including the sentencing of Aulia Pohan,in-law of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, [5] have enhanced the reputation of the KPK.
Munir Said Thalib was an Indonesian activist. Founder of the Kontras human rights organisation and laureate of the 2000 Right Livelihood Award,Munir was assassinated in 2004 while travelling to Utrecht University to pursue a master's degree in international law and human rights. He is one of Indonesia's most famous human rights and anti-corruption activists.
The Corruption Eradication Commission,abbreviated as KPK,is an Indonesian government agency established to prevent and fight corruption in the country.
Ratu Atut Chosiyah is a former governor of the province of Banten,Indonesia. She was suspended from office in 2014 because of a corruption case. She held office for several terms. Before her election as governor in 2006,she was the deputy governor under Djoko Munandar starting from 11 January 2002. Djoko was involved in a corruption case and was suspended from office in October 2005. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed Ratu Atut as the acting governor to take over Djoko's administrative duties and she later became governor. She thus became the first female governor in Indonesia. In May 2014,she was formally charged by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission for alleged corruption. In early September 2014,she was sentenced to a four-year term of imprisonment on the charges brought by the Commission against her. In September 2022,Ratu Atut was released on parole.
The Indonesian National Police is the national law enforcement and police force of the Republic of Indonesia. Founded on 1 July 1946,it was formerly a part of the country's military since 1962. The police were formally separated from the armed forces on 1 April 1999 in a process which was formally completed on 1 July 1999.

He was granted clemency in early 2017 by President Joko Widodo and released from prison.
While hard data on corruption is difficult to collect,corruption in Indonesia is clearly seen through public opinion,collated through surveys as well as observation of how each system runs.

Idrus Marham is an Indonesian politician who served as social affairs minister under President Joko Widodo for seven months in 2018 before resigning because of a corruption scandal. A series of mass protests led by students took place at major cities in Indonesia from 23 September 2019,to rally against new legislation that reduces the authority of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK),as well as several bills including a new criminal code that penalises extramarital sex and defamation against the president. The protesters consisted of mostly students from over 300 universities,with no association with any particular political parties or groups. The protests were the most prominent student movement in Indonesia since the 1998 riots that brought down the Suharto regime.
