Susovan Sonu Roy was (born 19 July 1994) is an Indian actor, dancer, and model known for his work in the Bengali television and film industry. He began his career as a trained Western dancer and later transitioned into acting and modelling. He has appeared in several Bengali television serials and made his big-screen debut in 2025 with Take Care Bhalobasa [1] .

Early life and education

Susovan Sonu Roy was born on 19 July 1994 in Howrah, West Bengal, India. He spent part of his childhood in Guwahati and Kolkata. Thereafter he completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at Dum Dum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya [2] , affiliated with West Bengal State University. During his studies, he trained in Western dance and performed in various stage shows. [3]

Career

Dance and television

Roy began his career as a western dancer, performing in stage shows before entering the television industry. He trained in acting through workshops conducted by directors including Pijush Saha. [4] He made his television debut in 2019 with the mythological series Anandamoyee Maa on Akash Aath, portraying a vaishnav devotee under the direction of Debidas Bhattacharya. [4] Between 2019 and 2021, Roy appeared in several Bengali television serials. He played roles in Mohor (star Jalsha), Kora Pakha (star Jalsha), Titli, Jamuna Dhaki (Zee Bangla), and Khelaghor. [5]

Film

Roy made his film debut in 2025 with the Bengali film (Take Care Bhalobasa), directed by Soumojit Adak, in which he portrayed the character Joy. [4] The film explorers relationships among a group of friends and marks his transition from television to cinema.

Award and recognition

In 2025, Roy participated in the Ethnic Elllllegance 2025 beauty pageant in Kolkata and was awarded the title of (Mr. Ethnic Elegance 2025 - First Runner-up). [6]
