The 2010 Asian Games torch relay was held from October 12, 2010 through 21 cities in Guangdong province and 2 cities outside the province before the opening ceremony on November 12, 2010. Prior to the relay, a lighting ceremony was held back on October 9, 2010. Some 2,068 torchbearers were expected to carry the torch. The relay leg in Harbin was held in a minor scale due the climatic conditions,as the leg was held inside the main venue of the 1996 Asian Winter Games complex, the Harbin Ice Hockey Rink, while the relay on October 15, 2010 was affected by Typhoon Megi as it was held under the rain. The leg held from November 6–8 acted as a test relay. The flame travelled across China aboard a China Southern Airlines Airbus A330-200 named "Flight Guangzhou 2010", with the airline company being the official partner of the games.

Diving at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China from November 22 to 26, 2010. Ten competitions were held in both, men and women's. All competition took place at the Aoti Aquatics Centre.

Athletics at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China from 21 to 27 November 2010. A total of 47 events were contested – 24 by men and 23 by women – matching the Olympic athletics programme. The 42 track and field events on the programme were hosted at the Aoti Main Stadium while the marathons and racewalking competitions took place around the city's University Town. Sixteen Asian Games records were broken during the seven-day competition.

He had, overall, won 26 Gold medals in Philippine Olympic Games and 7 in SEA Age Group Swimming Championship, he represented the country Philippines in Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games.

Ning Zetao is a Chinese former competitive swimmer. Specializing in the freestyle, he won a gold medal in the 100 metre freestyle at the 2015 World Championships. At the 2014 Asian Games, he won gold medals in the 50 metre freestyle, 4 × 100 metre medley relay, 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay, and 100 metre freestyle, breaking the Asian records in the latter two events. Ning also swam for China at the 2016 Summer Olympics, but failed to proceed to any final at the meet.

People's Republic of China first competed at the Asian Para Games in 2010. China has led the gold medal count in each Asian Games since 2010 Asian Games. At the Asian Para Games in 2010, Yuqing Cai won the first gold medal for China in Women's 400m freestyle -S9 final. Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, China hosted the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games in October 2023.
