Sybra guamensis is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Stephan von Breuning in 1976. [1]
Beetles are a group of insects that form the order Coleoptera, in the superorder Endopterygota. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects. The Coleoptera, with about 400,000 species, is the largest of all orders, constituting almost 40% of described insects and 25% of all known animal life-forms; new species are discovered frequently. The largest of all families, the Curculionidae (weevils) with some 80,000 member species, belongs to this order. Found in almost every habitat except the sea and the polar regions, they interact with their ecosystems in several ways: beetles often feed on plants and fungi, break down animal and plant debris, and eat other invertebrates. Some species are serious agricultural pests, such as the Colorado potato beetle, while others such as Coccinellidae eat aphids, scale insects, thrips, and other plant-sucking insects that damage crops.
Stephan von Breuning was an Austrian entomologist who specialised in Coleoptera, particularly Cerambycidae.
Umbonium, sometimes known as the "button top shells", is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Trochidae, the top snails.
Awaous stamineus is a species of goby native to the Hawaiian Islands. It has been considered a synonym of Awaous guamensis but recent work based upon morphological and genetic differences has recognized Hawaiian populations as being distinct. Consequently, Hawaiian Awaous are now recognized as a valid, distinct species.
Omphalotropis is a genus of minute salt marsh snails with an operculum, terrestrial gastropod mollusks in the family Assimineidae.
Omphalotropis guamensis is a species of minute salt marsh snail with an operculum, a terrestrial gastropod mollusk, or micromollusk, in the family Assimineidae. This species is endemic to Guam.
Partula guamensis is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Partulidae.
Succinea guamensis is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial gastropod mollusk in the family Succineidae, the amber snails.
Micromelo is a genus of sea snails, bubble snails, marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusks in the family Aplustridae.
Micromelo guamensis, common name the Guam paper bubble, is a species of sea snail, a bubble snail, a marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusk in the family Aplustridae.
Fryeria is a genus of sea slugs, dorid nudibranchs, shell-less marine gastropod molluscs in the family Phyllidiidae.
Awaous guamensis is a species of goby native to the Pacific islands from the Marianas to Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji where it can be found in fresh, brackish and marine waters. Males can reach a length of 24.5 cm (9.6 in) SL while females only reach 16.5 cm (6.5 in). Recent work based upon morphological and genetic differences has recognized Hawaiian populations of Awaous as being distinct from Awaous guamensis. Consequently, Hawaiian Awaous are now recognized as a distinct species Awaous stamineus.
Favartia guamensis is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Muricidae, the murex snails or rock snails.
