Syed Jalaludin Syed Salim is a Malaysian academic administrator. He was the third Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia,serving from 5 June 1994 until 17 April 2001. During his tenure,UPM diversified its fields of study,especially in Science and Technology. In 1997,UPM was renamed and cast off its image as an agricultural-focused university. Currently,he is the chairman of Asia e University and chairman of Board of Governors of University College Fairview.
Syed Jalaludin studied at Stellar Maris School of Kangar,then furthered his secondary education at Saint Xavier School,George Town. [1] He obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of the Punjab in 1967,followed by a Master of Philosophy and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of London,in 1969 and 1977 respectively.
