T. S. Radhakrishnan (born 5 November 1957), popularly known as Radhakrishnaji, is an Indian composer and music producer of devotional music and film music from Ernakulam, Kerala. He has composed over 300 devotional albums. [1] His albums have been collaborations with leading Indian singers such as K. J. Yesudas, P. Leela, P. Susheela, S. Janaki, P. Jayachandran, K. S. Chithra, Hariharan, Manjari, Unni Menon, among others. [1] He has collaborated on more than 200 albums. Most of his songs were written by R. K. Damodaran, P. C. Aravindan, S. Ramesan Nair and Chowallur Krishnankutty . [2]

Radhakrishnan was born on 5 November 1957 in Ernakulam, as the son of Sankaranarayana Iyer and Subbulakshmi Ammal. He is the seventh of their nine children. He was trained in Carnatic music by Tripunithura K.C. Kalyanasundaram Bhagavathar, [1] Tanjore Subramania Bhagavathar, [3] and Dr. S. Ramanathan. [1]

He composed his first album "Harisree Prasadam" with ten songs in 1980 collaborating with Malayalam lyricist R. K. Damodaran and singers P Jayachandran, Kanhagad Ramachandran, Kavalam Sreekumar, Junior Mehaboob and Usha Manoharan. [1] His earliest collaborations with K. J. Yesudas were the albums "Thulasi Theertham" in 1986, [4] "Ganga Theertham Vol. 1" in 1989, [5] both produced by Yesudas' label Tharangini Records.

Radhakrishnan played bass guitar for the western music band Hijackers for eight years before he began composing devotional music. [1] Now he rarely touches guitar, and fully engages in devotional music. He is married to Padma, and has two children - a son named Shankar Vinayak, and a daughter named Lakshmi, both of them who follow their father's path, despite having career of their own. He is also a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba, and regularly visits Puttaparthi since the start of his career.

Awards

On 11 May 2006 he was conferred the title "Bhakthiganopasakasri" for 25 years of composing devotional music by the Ernakulam Grama Jana Samooham [6] and accepted the award from Dr. K J Yesudas. [7]

Paravoor Govindan Devarajan (1927–2006), popularly known as G. Devarajan or Devarajan master, was an Indian music composer and Carnatic singer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Indian film music. He scored music for more than three hundred Malayalam films, many dramas, and twenty Tamil and four Kannada movies. His collaborations with Vayalar Ramavarma produced the golden era of Malayalam film music and many of his compositions remain ever green classics in Malayalam. His music in the Tamil film Annai Velankanni has received many accolades. Devarajan received Kerala Government's Best Music Director award five times, among other honours. In 1999, he was honoured with the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema.

Perumbavoor G. Raveendranath is an Indian musician from Kerala. He is well known as a carnatic musician as well as a composer. He lives in Thiruvananthapuram now, though hails from Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. His works always have the deep-rooted carnatic touch in it.

Raveendran began his career as a playback singer through the song "Parvanarajanithan" from a Malayalam film, Velliyazhcha. Later he associated with many composers and meanwhile served as a dubbing artist for films. He dubbed for actor Shankar in Aranjaanam directed by P. Venu. Primarily wished to become a playback singer, his destiny was changed by K. J. Yesudas, who realised his ability to create tunes which eventually led to his first movie Choola in 1979.

Kaithapram Vishwanathan Namboothiri was an Indian musician and music director. He was awarded Kerala State Film Award for Best Background Music in 2001 for his background music for Kannaki.

East Coast Vijayan is an Indian film producer, director and lyricist who works in Malayalam film industry. Being a lyricist, Vijayan wrote the music album Ninakkai, which was released in 1998. The music was given by Balabhaskar and the song Ninakkay Thozhi Punarjanikkam was sung by Biju Narayanan.

Tharangini Records is the music company founded by noted Indian Playback singer K. J. Yesudas in 1980 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It was the first recording and distributing music label in Kerala from where Malayalam film songs on audio cassettes came out. Other than Malayalam, Tharangni also released songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, English, Malay, Arabic, Russian and Latin. Tharangni release albums under various labels, Tharangni, Tharangni or Ayaan, Bharath Sangeeth, 9th Angel Records, Diva Records, V Records & Entertainment, Amplify More, all licensed or incorporated under Dr. K. <i>Angadi</i> (film) 1980 Indian film

Angadi (transl.Market) is a 1980 Indian Malayalam-language action drama film directed by I. V. Sasi, written by T. Damodaran and produced by P. V, Gangadharan under the banner of Grihalakshmi Productions. The film stars Jayan as Babu in the lead role along with Sukumaran, Seema, Jose and Sankaradi, in supporting roles. The film revolves around the rivalry between a laborer, Babu and Beeran, an evil businessman. The music was composed by Shyam, with the cinematography done jointly by Chandramohan and C. E. Babu. Angadi was one of the major successes of the year 1980, running for 125 days in theatres. The film broke the box office record of Jayan's Sarapancharam (1979) and emerged the highest grossing Malayalam film of the year. The film was a milestone in the Malayalam film industry, achieving cult status in Kerala. The film was instrumental in establishing Jayan's macho hero image.

R. K. Damodaran is a poet and lyricist who has worked predominantly in the Malayalam movie industry. He also worked as a journalist in Mathrubhumi from 1982 to 2013. He has written lyrics for almost 3,600 songs in devotional, political, environmental, drama and light music genres, including two Sanskrit songs. He has worked in more than 100 Malayalam films and written songs like "Ravivarma Chithrathin", "Thalam Thettiya Tharatt", "Manjil Chekkerum", "Sukham", "Chandrakiranathin Chandanamunnum", "Thani Thankakkinapponkal" and "Pakalppoove".

Alleppey Ranganath was an Indian composer, lyricist, film director and screenwriter.

Chowallur Krishnankutty was an Indian lyricist, journalist, screenwriter and actor. He has penned hundreds of Malayalam devotional songs. The song Oru neramenkilum, from the Tharangini album Thulasi Theertham is the most popular of his lyrics. Krishnankutty had written screenplays and acted in several Malayalam films and also wrote the dialogues for the film Sargam. A recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Krishnankutty also served as the vice-chairman of the Kerala Kalamandalam.
