TVB8 was a Mandarin language general entertainment television channel owned and operated by TVB International.

History

On December 7, 1998, TVB Satellite Broadcasting Limited was established. and is the only one to enter overseas Chinese satellite TV market. TVB8 was launched, which is mainly broadcast in Mandarin language. TVB8 and TVB Xinghe Channel belongs to TVB were approved by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China for the Mainland China viewers.

After 20 years of broadcasting, TVB8 ceased broadcasting on 15 August 2018 in Hong Kong and 1 September 2018 in Asia-Pacific and USA.

Television in Hong Kong is primarily in Cantonese and English. It is delivered through analogue and digital terrestrial, cable, IPTV, and the Internet. Satellite TV is not common, although many housing estates have dishes and re-distribute a limited number of free channels through coaxial cables. The dominant broadcaster is TVB and ViuTV.

TVB Jade, or simply Jade, is a Hong Kong Cantonese-language free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) as its flagship service, alongside its sister network, the English-language TVB Pearl. Broadcasting started on 19 November 1967. It is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate in Tseung Kwan O, in the Sai Kung District. Primarily broadcasting entertainment programming, TVB Jade has historically been the most dominant television channel in the region in terms of viewership, with its closest competitor having been the now-defunct ATV Home.

TVBS Media Inc., formerly Liann Yee Production Co., Ltd., is a Taiwanese commercial television broadcasting company. It was originally established as a joint venture between TVB in Hong Kong and Era Group in Taiwan, but TVB took over Era's shares in the company in 2005. Later, TVB sold all of its shares in the company to HTC Corporation Chairwoman Cher Wang.
