TVS Group is an Indian multinational family-owned conglomerate with its principal headquarters in Madurai and international headquarters in Chennai. It has more than 50 subsidiaries including the two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company and TVS Supply Chain Solutions.

The T. V. S. family is an Indian business family, based in Chennai, India. The TVS Group has its principal headquarters in Madurai and international headquarters in Chennai. It has more than 50 subsidiaries across sectors. T. V. Sundram Iyengar founded the group in 1911 with the establishment of T. V. Sundram Iyengar & Sons in Madurai.
The family is from the Iyengar community – Tamil Brahmins who are adherents of Sri Vaishnavism – hailing from Tirunelveli district. The founder T. V. Sundram Iyengar was born in 1877 in Thirukkurungudi. Sundram Iyengar qualified as a lawyer, and later worked in the Indian Railways and later in a bank. He later moved to Madurai and founded the TVS group. [4] [5]
Sundram Iyengar and Lakshmi Ammal had eight children – five sons and three daughters. The five sons all joined the family business. The eldest son – T. S. Doraisamy died in 1943 and the other four sons – T. S. Rajam, T. S. Santhanam, T. S. Srinivasan and T. S. Krishna continued to run different businesses. [6] Of the daughters, Dr. T. S. Soundram was a physician, social reformer and politician. [7]

The Deming Prize is the longest-running national quality award and one of the highest awards in the world. It recognizes both individuals for their contributions to the field of quality and businesses that have successfully implemented exemplary systems that promote quality of goods and services. It was established in 1951 to honor W. Edwards Deming who contributed greatly to Japan’s proliferation of statistical quality control after World War II. His teachings helped Japan build its foundation by which the level of Japan’s product quality has been recognized as the highest in the world, was originally designed to reward Japanese companies for major advances in quality improvement. Over the years it has grown, under the guidance of the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) to where it is now also available to non-Japanese companies, albeit usually operating in Japan, and also to individuals recognized as having made major contributions to the advancement of quality. The awards ceremony is broadcast every year in Japan on national television.

T. S. Soundaram Ramachandran was an Indian physician, social reformer and politician was the daughter of T. V. Sundaram Iyengar, the founder of T V Sundaram Iyengar and Sons Limited, popularly known as TVS Group of companies, one of India's largest industrial conglomerates. She was married young barely at the age of 14 in 1918, her husband Dr. Soundararajan, encouraged her to study. But when he died when she was in her teens, it was her parents who urged her to continue with her studies. It was at Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi that she did her medicine degree.
Thirukkurungudi Vengaram Sundram Iyengar was an Indian industrialist and automobile pioneer. In 1911, he founded T. V. Sundram Iyengar & Sons, a bus company which later diversified into automobile production and emerged as the parent company of the TVS Group, one of India's biggest business conglomerates. With his humble beginning as a lawyer, he grew into one of the most successful industrialists of his time. The flagship company of the group is TVS Motors established by his son T. S. Srinivasan. He laid foundation for road transport industry in the erstwhile Madras Presidency through the state's first bus service. The TVS group he thus started now extends from motor industry, auto services to financial services.
The TVS School was established in 1972 with 40 students. It provides education to the inhabitants of Madurai and its surroundings in Tamil Nadu, India. It is governed by a council named Lakshmi Vidya Sangham, constituted by the descendants of the founder of the TVS Group, T. V. Sundaram Iyengar. The school has a strength of about 4,907 pupils, 201 teaching staff and additional parent tutors. The school functions in two shifts for all classes from the lower kindergarten to Std XII.
