The men's 80 kg competition in Taekwondo at the 2024 Summer Olympics was held on 9 August 2024 at the Grand Palais. [1]

Summary

This is the seventh appearance of the men's 80kg category, debut in 2000, and it has appeared in every games since then.

Maksim Khramtsov is a defending champion, but he did not qualify due to the IOC did not declare him neutral he is not invited to the Games, Stefan Takov took his spot, and lost to Faysal Sawadogo, 2020 silver medalist Saleh Al-Sharabaty lost to Henrique Marques, one of the bronze medalists, Toni Kanaet did not qualify and Seif Eissa lost to Edi Hrnic.

The men's foil was one of eight fencing events on the fencing at the 1992 Summer Olympics programme. It was the twenty-first appearance of the event. Ismaël Coulibaly is a Malian taekwondo practitioner who mainly fights in the lightweight division. Coulibaly represented Mali at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he competed in the men's 80kg competition. He was Mali's flag bearer for the closing ceremony of the 2016 Olympics. He has also competed in three World Taekwondo Championships, a World Taekwondo Grand Prix and two African Games. He has won multiple World Championship medals and multiple medals in African regional competitions.

Seif Eissa is an Egyptian Taekwondo practitioner & a Bronze medalist at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. He also earned a gold medal at the 2015 African Games in Gaborone.

Satriyo Rahadhani is an Indonesian taekwondo practitioner, who competed in the men's flyweight category. He claimed a silver medal in the 58-kg division, as a 17-year-old teen, at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, and became the first Indonesian male taekwondo fighter to mark an Olympic debut in the sport at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Edival Marques Quirino Pontes also known as Netinho is a Brazilian taekwondo athlete. He won the bronze medal in the 68 kg at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the silver medal in the men's lightweight event at the 2022 World Taekwondo Championships held in Guadalajara, and a gold medal at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, in the under 63 kg weight category.
