Taeyanna Adams (born March 14, 2002) is a Micronesian swimmer, who is the national record holder in multiple events. She competed in the 100 metre breaststroke event at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics.

Personal life

Adams has Japanese and Pohnpeian heritage. [2] In 2020, she moved to Hawaii. [3] Aside from swimming, she does CrossFit training. [4]

Career

Adams is the Micronesian record holder in the short course 50 and 100 metres breaststroke events, [3] as well as the standard course 100 metres breaststroke and freestyle events. [4] In Hawaii, she trains at the Kona Aquatics Club. [3]

Adams competed at the 2018 Oceania Swimming Championships, finishing last in the 50 metres breaststroke event. She was also part of the Micronesian team that finished last in the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay. [5] At the 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m), she set a national record of 37.00 seconds in the 50 metres breaststroke event, and also competed in the 100 metres breaststroke competition. [2] She competed in the 100 metre breastroke event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships, finishing 53rd out of 55 in the heats. [6]

Adams was given a wildcard place for the 100 metre breaststroke event at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics, [3] competing for the Federated States of Micronesia. [7] She was Micronesia's flag bearer at the Games' opening ceremony. [3] [4] After arriving in Tokyo, Adams trained with swimmers from Guam. [8] At the Games, Adams finished fourth in her heat, [9] and 41st overall. [10] She did not qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, as only the top 16 finishers progressed. [11] [12] Later in the year, she competed in the 100 metre breastroke event at the 2021 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m). She went out in the heats. [13]

She has won 109 medals, including 48 gold medals, at Swimming World Cups.

Alia Atkinson Jamaican swimmer

Alia Shanee Atkinson, OD is a retired Jamaican swimmer and five time Olympian. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she became the second Jamaican swimmer to place in the top four at an Olympics Games, finishing fourth in the 100-metre breaststroke. In 2014, she became the second woman to swim a 1:02.36 in the short course 100-metre breaststroke tying the world record in the event. In 2016, Atkinson set a new world record in the short course 50-metre breaststroke. Two years later, in 2018, she set a new world record in the short course 50-metre breaststroke for the second time. She was the first Afro-Jamaican to win a world title in swimming. She won a total of 124 medals, of which 74 were gold medals, at Swimming World Cup circuits over the course of her career.

Adam Peaty British swimmer

Adam George Peaty is an English competitive swimmer who specialises in the breaststroke. He won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the first by a male British swimmer in 24 years, and retained the title at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 2021, the first British swimmer ever to retain an Olympic title. He is also an eight-time World Champion, a sixteen-time European Champion and a four-time Commonwealth Champion. According to FINA itself, Peaty is widely regarded as the dominant breaststroke swimmer of his era, and the most dominant sprint breaststroke swimmer of all time.

Anton Chupkov Russian swimmer

Anton Mikhailovich Chupkov is a Russian competitive swimmer. He is the European record holder in the long course 200 metre breaststroke and the Russian record holder in the long course 100 metre breaststroke. He formerly held the world record in the long course 200 metre breaststroke. At the 2015 European Games he won four gold medals in individual and relay events. He won the bronze medal in the 200 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal in the 200 metre breaststroke at the 2017 and 2019 World Aquatics Championships.

Michael Andrew (swimmer) American swimmer

Michael Charles Andrew is an American competitive swimmer and an Olympic gold medalist. He was the 2016 world champion in the 100 meter individual medley. At his first Olympic Games, the 2020 Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal and set a world record as part of the 4x100 meter medley relay, placed fourth in the 100 meter breaststroke, fourth in the 50 meter freestyle, and fifth in the 200 meter individual medley. Andrew's swims in 2021 at the 2020 Olympics made him the first swimmer to represent the United States at an Olympic Games in an individual breaststroke event as well as another individual event other than an individual medley in the then-125-year-history of swimming at the Summer Olympics. He has won 76 medals at Swimming World Cup circuits.

Sarah Vasey is a British swimmer. She competed in the women's 50 metre and 100 metre breaststroke events at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. Vasey qualified for the 50 metre breaststroke final at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast, Australia and went on to win gold.

Matthew Wilson is an Australian swimmer. He competed in the men's 50 metre breaststroke and 200 metre breaststroke events at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships and at the 100 & 200 metre breastroke at the 2019 World Aquatic Championships, winning a silver medal in the 200 m breaststroke, as well as medley relay medals on both occasions. Wilson also competed in 100 & 200 metre breastroke at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and formerly held the world record in the 200 metre breaststroke.

Tatjana Schoenmaker is a South African swimmer specialising in breaststroke events. Nicolò Martinenghi is an Italian swimmer. He competed in the men's 100 metre breaststroke at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. He won the bronze medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2020 Summer Olympics. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, he won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke and the 4×100 metre medley relay and the silver medal in the 50 metre breaststroke.

Michael Houlie is a South African swimmer. He competed in the men's 100 metre breaststroke at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. In 2019, he represented South Africa at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco. He also competed in the men's 100 metre breaststroke event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Benedetta Pilato is an Italian swimmer. She is the world record holder in the long course 50 metre breaststroke. She is the European champion in the 50 metre breaststroke in 2021 and the 100 metre breaststroke in 2022 as well as the silver medalist in the 50 metre breaststroke in 2022. In 2021, she won a silver medal in the 50 metre breaststroke at the 2021 World Short Course Championships. She is the world champion in the 100 metre breaststroke and the silver medal in the 50 metre breaststroke at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships.

Ema Rajić is a Croatian swimmer. She graduated from University Laboratory High School in 2018. She competed in the women's 50 metre breaststroke at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships and she did not advance to compete in the semi-finals.

Vladislav Gerasimenko is a Russian competitive swimmer. He is a world junior record holder in the long course 4×100 metre medley relay, swimming a 59.53 for the breaststroke portion of the relay. He is a four-time medalist from the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics and a five-time medalist at the World Junior Swimming Championships, spanning breaststroke and freestyle disciplines. He competed at the 2021 European Short Course Swimming Championships, placing 16th in the prelims heats of the 50 metre breaststroke.
