Takis Biniaris

Panayiotis (Takis) Biniaris (Athens, 9 June 1955) is a Greek singer who represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1985, in which he sang Miazoume . He earned 15 points and finished in 16th place. [1] Biniaris also participated in the Greek national selection for Eurovision in 1991 with the song Opou ke na’ssai which was unplaced.

Eurovision Song Contest 1985

The Eurovision Song Contest 1985 was the 30th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held on 4 May 1985 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The presenter was entertainer Lill Lindfors, whose jokey dress rip after the interval act was said to have not amused the wife of EBU scrutineer Frank Naef. Norwegian duo Bobbysocks! were the winners with the song "La det swinge".

Eurovision Song Contest 2006 51st Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the 51st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Athens, Greece, following the country's victory at the 2005 contest with the song "My Number One" by Helena Paparizou. It was the first time Greece had hosted the contest - 32 years after the country made its debut. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the contest was held at the Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall, and consisted of a semi-final on 18 May, and the final on 20 May 2006. The two live shows were presented by Maria Menounos and Sakis Rouvas.

Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest

Maria-Anastasia (Mariana) Efstratiou is a Greek singer, connected on several occasions with the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1987 she appeared as a backing singer for the duo Bang. Efstratiou won the Greek national song contest in 1989, overcoming Greek superstar Anna Vissi, and represented Greece in Lausanne with To Diko Sou Asteri. The song was placed ninth. In 1996, ERT selected her to represent Greece again, this time with the song Emis forame to himona anixiatika, but the song could only manage 14th place in Oslo. Currently, she is the lead singer of the jazz ensemble Nova Mood.

"Children, Kinder, Enfants" was the Luxembourgish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1985, performed in French by Margo, Franck Olivier, Diane Solomon, Ireen Sheer, Malcolm Roberts and Chris Roberts.

Greece and Ellinikí Radiofonía Tileórasi (ERT) chose to hold a national final this year after efforts to find a big-name artist for an internal selection failed. The artists involved were Sarbel, Christos Dantis, and Tamta. The national final took place February 28, 2007, and was called "Eurovision 2007". Each artist choose a song, and performed it in their own way. The winner was Sarbel with the song "Yassou Maria" which was chosen via 50% televoting and SMS voting and 50% jury voting.

The reason behind the withdrawal, was that the Eurovision contest coincided with Holy Saturday. Their entry would have been "Wagon-lit" performed by Polina.

Cyprus was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 by Stelios Constantas and the song "Feeling Alive".
