Gerhard "Gary" Lux (born 26 January 1959) is a Canadian-born Austrian singer, most famous for having represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest on six occasions.
Lux has released solo albums entitled "Dreidimensional" and "City of Angels" inspired by some time he had spent in Los Angeles.

As a composer, Lux was placed second in the Austrian national heat for Eurovision in 1994 with the song "Solitaire" performed by Three Girl Madhouse. Gary also sang a duet with Gitti Seuberth at the 1984 Austrian final Komm hoit mi which placed 2nd.
He was born in Ontario, Canada but returned to live in Austria with his parents as a young boy. He was married to Marianne (died of cancer on 4 April 2011) and has 2 sons, Benny and Dennis.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1985 was the 30th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 4 May 1985 in the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), it was presented by Lill Lindfors. The contest was held in Sweden following the country's victory at the 1984 contest with the song "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley" by Herreys. Nineteen countries participated in the contest; Greece and Israel returned after a one-year absence, while the Netherlands and Yugoslavia, which had participated in the previous year's event, declined to enter due to separate memorial events in those countries coinciding with the date of the contest.
The Eurovision Song Contest 1984 was the 29th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 5 May 1984 in the Théâtre Municipal in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Radio Télévision Luxembourg (RTL), the contest was held in Luxembourg following the country's victory at the 1983 contest with the song "Si la vie est cadeau" by Corinne Hermès. The event was presented by Désirée Nosbusch, who, at 19 years old, remains the youngest person to have hosted the contest as of 2024.

Five artists and ten songs competed in a televised show where a public vote consisting of regional televoting and mobile phone voting exclusively selected "Y así" performed by Global Kryner as the winner.

The Austrian participating broadcaster, Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF), organised the national final Song.Null.Vier in order to select its entry for the contest. Ten songs competed in a televised show where a public vote exclusively selected "Du bist" performed by Tie Break as the winner.

In October 2006, the Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) announced that they would be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their withdrawal in 2006 due to poor results in the 2005 contest. On 20 February 2007, ORF announced that they had internally selected Eric Papilaya to compete at the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland, while "Get a Life – Get Alive" was presented to the public on 7 March 2007.
Germany was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Frauen regier'n die Welt", written by Matthias Haß and Frank Ramond, and performed by Roger Cicero. The German participating broadcaster on behalf of ARD, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), organised the national final Der deutsche Vorentscheid 2007 – Wer singt für Deutschland? in order to select their entry for the contest. The national final took place on 8 March 2007 and featured three competing acts with the winner being selected through public televoting. "Frauen regier'n die Welt" performed by Roger Cicero was selected as the German entry for Eurovision after gaining 70% of the votes.
