An Indigenous Dayak girl lives in a floating house with her grandfather after losing her parents in a land conflict. [1]

Autobiography is a 2022 Indonesian thriller drama film written and directed by Makbul Mubarak in his directorial debut. It stars Kevin Ardilova and Arswendy Bening Swara. The film had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival during the Horizons program on September 2, 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in sections other than the main competition. Autobiography won the sole award in Best Original Screenplay category among other seven nominations at the 2022 Indonesian Film Festival. The film was selected as the Indonesian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

The 41st Indonesian Film Festival ceremony, presented by the Indonesian Film Board and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, honored the achievement in Indonesian cinema released from 1 October 2020 to 31 August 2021. The ceremony was held on 10 November 2021 at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia, and presented by actors Tissa Biani, Prilly Latuconsina, Angga Yunanda and Jefri Nichol. Coinciding with Heroes' Day, President Joko Widodo awarded the Father of Indonesian Cinema, Usmar Ismail posthumously as a National Hero of Indonesia.

Something Like an Autobiography is a 2023 Bangladeshi film directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. It was part of the Ministry of Love 12-film anthology film series for Bangladeshi streaming platform Chorki. The title of the film, borrowed from Akira Kurosawa's book of same name, resonates with events that question the boundary between reality and fiction from the plot that is presumed by Variety to be inspired from Farooki and his wife Nusrat Imrose Tisha's personal lives. The 29th Busan International Film Festival opened on October 2 at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, with South Korean film Uprising by Kim Sang-man, and screened 278 films from 63 countries, including 224 officially invited films and 54 community beef screenings. Park Bo-young and Ahn Jae-hong hosted the opening ceremony.

The Kim Jiseok Award is an annual film award, presented by the Busan International Film Festival, to films in the competition category for the Korean and Asian directors who have directed more than three feature films. The award is named after the late Kim Jiseok, the festival's co-founder, deputy director, and head programmer, who died in May 2017. During the same year, the award was first created.

Busan Asian Film School (AFiS; Korean: 부산아시아영화학교) is a government-owned educational institution located in Busan, South Korea, dedicated to Asian cinema. Established in 2016 to promote cultural exchange and collaboration among Asian filmmakers, AFiS offers film-related education and hands-on training in filmmaking and producing. It offers scholarships to the Asian filmmaker every year to study there, supported by the government of South Korea.

The 34th annual Singapore International Film Festival was held from 30 November to 10 December 2023 in Singapore. A total of 101 films from 50 countries were screened during the festival. With two co-productions and three feature films, this year broke the record for the highest number of films selected in competition by Singaporean directors since 1997. Amanda Nell Eu's feature directorial debut Tiger Stripes opened the festival. Drama film Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell won the festival's main award Silver Screen Award for Best Asian Film.

Film Pilihan Tempo 2024 was held on 5 February 2025 by Tempo magazine to honor the achievement in Indonesian cinema in 2024. It was held at the Graha Bhakti Budaya, Ismail Marzuki Park, Jakarta, Indonesia.
