Tamsen Fadal (born December 4, 1970) is an American journalist, menopause advocate [1] and author of The New Single: Finding, Fixing and Falling Back In Love With Yourself. She is the host and executive producer of The Broadway Show. [2]

Early life and education

Fadal was born in Concord, Massachusetts. [3] She graduated from the University of South Florida [4] in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Fadal is of Lebanese descent. [5] Her cousin is actress Shannon Elizabeth. [6]

Career

Fadal began her broadcasting career as a morning anchor for WHNZ Radio in Tampa, Florida. [7] In 2002, she traveled to Afghanistan with the American troops reporting on the war. [8] Fadal reported for WPGH-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, WFTV in Orlando, Florida and WOWK-TV in Charleston, West Virginia and KYW-TV in Philadelphia. In 2004, she joined WCBS in New York City, and she joined WPIX on March 24, 2008, [9] reporting and anchoring for the Morning News five days a week, covering breaking news as well as feature stories.

Fadal co-starred in the 2009 docu-series, "Matched In Manhattan" [10] on Lifetime (TV Network) as a dating coach to clients. [11]

In 2019, Fadal became the host and executive producer of Broadway Profiles for The Broadway Channel, a monthly series featuring in-depth interviews with celebrities as well as an inside look at the Broadway industry [12] The show began airing weekly in fall 2020, when it became the first program about Broadway to be nationally syndicated. [13] In September 2021, the show's name changed to The Broadway Show with Tamsen Fadal. [14]

Fadal received a Broadcast Journalism award by the National Air Disaster Foundation in 2004 [NADF] post-9/11, for contributions leading to improved aviation safety. [15] Fadal was named the University of South Florida Outstanding Young Alumnus of 2004, [16] University of South Florida AlumNews, October 2004.

She has won several local Emmy awards. In 2016, Fadal received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, [17] an American award founded by the Ellis Island Honors Society (EIHS) (formerly known as National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO)). [18] In 2015, Fadal was named a “Power Woman”. [19] In 2014 she was selected to receive the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Coast Guard and Airmen's Club Media Award for her coverage of the war in Afghanistan. [20]

Fadal covered the history-making appearance of Hamilton in Puerto Rico in 2019 after Hurricane Maria devastated the island nation. [21]

In 2020, Fadal began to share her experiences as a woman in midlife on her podcast, Coming Up Next, and on social media. [22]

Advocacy

Fadal is an advocate for menopause awareness and in the fight against breast cancer. After losing her mother to the disease in 1990, she continues to be involved with the Avon 39 Walk To End Breast Cancer. [23] She also lends her support to SHARE Cancer Support. [24] She serves on the advisory board for Let's Talk Menopause [25] helping advocate for menopause awareness through social media. Fadal is Honorary Vice Chair [26] of Adapt Community Network, formerly United Cerebral Palsy of New York City. Fadal is a celebrity ambassador for Northshore Animal League [27] Fadal is on the Board of Directors for Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Personal life

On 4 October 2007, Fadal married Matthew "Matt" Titus after three years of dating. [28] The duo ran their own dating business and published books together. In 2012, the couple divorced. [29]

In 2017, Fadal began dating Ira Bernstein. The couple married on 2 October 2021.

KYW lured Mendte away from WCAU-TV, where he had anchored the 4, 6 and 11 pm newscasts and led the station to win news ratings in some time slots for the first time in 30 years.

The Ellis Island Honors Society (EIHS) is a United States 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to honor and preserve cultural diversity and to foster tolerance, respect and understanding among ethnic groups. The EIHS was founded in 1984 as the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) and adopted its current name in 2017. The EIHS awards the "Ellis Island Medal of Honor" to naturalized or native-born American citizens "who preserve and celebrate the history, traditions and values of their [ethnic heritage] while exemplifying the values of the American way of life".

She worked there from 2000-2001 before spending 10 years as the consumer reporter for CBS 2. She has received awards in crime reporting working at both companies. Her work for CBS included covering restaurants who discriminated against children.
