Tanyigbe is a town in the Ho municipality of the Volta Region of Ghana. [1] The town is known for the Tanyigbe Secondary School, a well known second cycle institution in the town. [2] [3] [4] Also endowed with a section of the Kabakaba Hills, which continues to be one of the best known tourist centres that provides pure and tasty drinking water. This water source has served the entire Ho Township more than 100 years even during previous periods of drought. [5]

History

The people of Tanyigbe settled in the East of Ho, the Volta Regional capital.

The town was ruled under Togbega Kwasi Adiko V for 64 years until 2015 when he passed on at the age of 88 years. [6] He was enstooled as the paramount chief at age 25, under his 64 years reign as the paramount chief of the land, he was able to build a new four-classroom Senior High School, a Junior High School, a clinic, established a Postal Agency and Telecommunication Service in 1952 and 1957 respectively and ensured the extension of electricity to the traditional area. [7] [8] Togbega Kwasi Adiko V was a trained Teacher, worked at the State Insurance Company and the National Commission on Children. [9] Togbega Kwasi Adiko V was succeeded by his son, Roland Kofi Adiko enstooled under the stool name Togbega Kodi Adiko VI. [10]

Togbega Kodi Adiko VI was enstooled at age 51, before, he was a pharmacist and chief executive officer of Rodina Chemist Limited. [11]

Attraction

One of the major attractions to the town is the Yam Festival, indigenously called “Tegadudu” in the Ewe language. [12] The festival is popularly celebrated to appreciate the toils of farmers all year round. [13]

Education

Tanyigbe Senior High School is the only senior high school in the area. [14] [15] [16] Even though there are several primary schools in the town there is not yet a tertiary institution to be boasted of. [17]

Kintampo is a town and tourist destination in the Bono East Region of Ghana. It became the capital of Kintampo North Municipal in 2004. Kintampo has a population of 111 000. It also served as the capital of the former Kintampo District. Kintampo also has a Senior High School which is located at Kyeremankoma. There is a college of health called Kintampo College of Health and Well-being (CoHK) in the town. Most of the population in Kintampo are farmers, with production focused on yams, maize, legumes, tubers and other vegetables. Both the Bono and the Mo tribe are indigenous to the region. Kintampo is a cosmopolitan town, apart from the indigenous tribe, other tribes like the Wangaras, Gonjas, Konkombas and others are also inhabitants of the town. Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, was the Osu Maŋtsɛ or King of the Ga people of Osu in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, West Africa. As the Paramount Chief of Osu, he was President of the Osu Traditional Council. He was elected President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in 2016. He is reported by the Ghana's national daily newspaper, the Daily Graphic, to have died at dawn on Saturday 6th February, 2021.
