Tapio Kinnunen (born 18 January 1954) is a Finnish weightlifter. He competed in the men's middleweight event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. [1] Kinnunen moved to Sweden in 1975, and also has represented Sweden in competitions. [2] [3]

Simo Häyhä, often referred to by his nickname, The White Death, was a Finnish military sniper during World War II in the 1939–1940 Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union. Jorma Vilho Paavali Kinnunen was an athlete from Finland who competed mainly in the javelin throw. He was born in Pihtipudas.

Hannu-Pekka "Hoopi" Hänninen is a Finnish sports commentator who works for Finland's National Broadcasting Company Yle. He works both as the real-time play-by-play commentator and the sports reader in Yle's sports news Urheiluruutu. His career as a sportscaster started in 1977. Before that, he had a short spell as entertainment staff on the radio. He was born in Helsinki, and trained as a telecommunications engineer.

The men's javelin throw event was part of the track and field athletics programme at the 1948 Summer Olympics. The competition was held on August 4. The final was won by Tapio Rautavaara from Finland.

Eero Johannes "Erkka" Tapio was a Greco-Roman wrestler from Finland who won four medals at the world championships of 1965–69, including a gold medal in 1967. He competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics and placed fifth-sixth in 1964 and 1968. He was voted the Finnish Sports Personality of the Year in 1967, placing within first ten in 1965, 1966 and 1969.

Matti Tapio Poikala is a retired Swedish wrestler. He competed in the freestyle lightweight division at the 1964 Summer Olympics, but was eliminated in the second bout. He then won a silver medal at the 1968 European and a bronze at the 1969 world championships in Greco-Roman wrestling, and finished fourth in 1969 in the 74 kg freestyle contest.
