Tatar, also known as Kosakan Tatar is a village in the Zangilan Rayon of Azerbaijan.
The village was captured by ethnic Armenian forces during the Nagorno-Karabakh War in 1992, and recaptured by Azerbaijani forces as part of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on October 22, 2020.
Jabrayil District is located in the south-western part of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the Minor Caucasus Mountains. Lachin or Berdzor, formerly Abdallyar, Datschin) is a town de facto controlled by the Republic of Artsakh, a region internationally recognized de jure as part of Azerbaijan. The area has been governed by Artsakh, which has renamed the town Berdzor, since the 1992 Nagorno-Karabakh War, and acts as the capital of Kashatagh Region. The government of Azerbaijan considers Lachin to be the regional center of its Lachin Rayon. The town and the surrounding region serve as the strategic Lachin corridor, which connects Artsakh with Armenia.
Ağdam is a ghost town in the southwest part of Azerbaijan and the capital of Agdam District, today controlled by the de facto Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, but de jure internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Founded in the early 19th century, it grew considerably during the Soviet period and had 39,200 inhabitants by 1991. Armenian forces captured Agdam in July 1993 during the Nagorno-Karabakh War. The heavy fighting forced the entire population to flee eastwards. Upon seizing the city, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) forces destroyed much of the town to discourage Azerbaijanis from returning. More damage occurred in the following decades when locals looted the abandoned town for building materials. It is currently almost entirely ruined and uninhabited.

Qarğabazar is a village in the Fizuli Rayon of Azerbaijan. It is located in the southern part of Füzuli city, at the foot of Ilanlidag Mountain, at a height of 460 meters. Since 1993, the village is under the control of unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. On 20 October 2020 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev claimed that the village had been captured from the Republic of Artsakh by Azerbaijani forces, though this has not yet been corroborated by third-party sources.

Capture of Gushchular and Malibeyli were incidents in which eight civilians were killed, according to Helsinki Watch, and according to Azerbaijani sources, 15–50 ethnic Azerbaijani civilians, by Armenian irregular armed units in simultaneous attacks on the villages of Malibeyli, Ashaghi Gushchular, and Yukhari Gushchular of Shusha district of Azerbaijan, on February 10–12, 1992 during the Nagorno-Karabakh War.
