Taubena Tatonga (born 23 August 1990) is an I-Kiribati male weightlifter, competing in the 77 kg category and representing Kiribati at international competitions. He won the bronze medal at the 2013 Pacific Mini Games. He participated at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 77 kg event and at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. [1]

Ben Turner is an Australian weightlifter best known for his performances at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, where he won the gold medal in the 69 kg category, and the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, where he won Silver in the 77 kg category. Turner is also a coach and has worked with former top Australian female lifter Erika Yamasaki.

It was the first time that Glasgow hosted the games, and the third time it was hosted in Scotland after Edinburgh hosted in 1970 and 1986. The men's 105 kg weightlifting event was the second-heaviest men's event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, limiting competitors to a maximum of 105 kilograms of body mass. The competition took place on 30 July at 7:30 pm. The event took place at the Clyde Auditorium. By winning the gold medal, David Katoatau became the first medalist from Kiribati at the Commonwealth Games. He lifted a combined weight of 348 kg.
