Taylortown is an unincorporated community in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, United States. [1] Taylortown is located at a junction of US-71, La- 527, and Ash Point road, between the Flat River and Red River, northeast of Moon, Walson, and Old River Lakes. [2] [3]

It is part of the Shreveport - Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area and a suburb of Shreveport.

The highway serve as a northern bypass of the downtown area for through traffic traveling on I-20, and, with LA 3132, the highway helps to carry through traffic between the two currently disconnected portions of I-49, the area's main north–south route.

Pierre Bossier American planter and politician (1797–1844)

Pierre Evariste Jean-Baptiste Bossier was a planter, soldier and politician born in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He is the namesake of Bossier Parish, located east of the Red River across from Shreveport in northwestern Louisiana. Bossier City and the Pierre Bossier Mall shopping center in Bossier City are among the other places named for him.

History of Shreveport, Louisiana

Shreveport, Louisiana, was founded in 1836 by the Shreve Town Company, a development corporation established to start a town at the meeting point of the Red River and the Texas Trail. In this period, a 180-mile (289 km) long natural logjam, the Great Raft, had obstructed passage to shipping. The Red River was cleared and made newly navigable by Captain Henry Miller Shreve of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Shreve used a specially modified riverboat, the Heliopolis, to remove the logjam. The company and the village of Shreve Town were named in Shreve's honor.

Shreveport–Bossier City–Minden CSA Combined Statistical Area in Louisiana, United States

The Shreveport–Bossier City–Minden combined statistical area was made up of four parishes in northwestern Louisiana. The statistical area consisted of then-Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan statistical area and then-Minden micropolitan statistical area. As of the 2010 census, the CSA had a population of 439,000. On February 28, 2013, OMB changed definitions of census statistical areas, and all four parishes in this combined statistical area were redefined as Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan statistical area.

The Shreveport-Bossier Bombers were an indoor football team of the Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) in 2000. The Bombers, based out of Shreveport, LA/Bossier City, LA, were one of four IPFL expansion teams for that season. They played their games in the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport. The Bombers owner was Don Rafferty and Matt Ingram was the general manager of the team.
